Myah's New Favorite Treat (That We Love, Too!) Purina Beneful Baked Delights Stars!

The Good: Healthy, Decent dental benefit for dogs, Good ingredients, Smells great, Myah loves them!
The Bad: Slightly expensive for a dog treat.
The Basics: Myah and I both find Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights well worth the investment for a dog snack and dental protection!

Lately, Myah has been getting all sorts of yummy new treats. A few days ago, she was enjoying the last of her Purina Beneful Hugs Baked Delights dog treats (reviewed here!) when we opened the box of Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights dog treats. Watching how she pretty much ditched the Hugs in favor of the Stars instantly made me lower my opinion on the Hugs. Myah has a clear, strong preference for the Stars and given how good they smell, I actually love giving them to her! Despite the fact that they are a bit more expensive than I traditionally like to pay for dog snacks, Myah's clear, strong preference for these treats definitely takes the sting off the bill!

My wife picked up the 11 oz. box of Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights for a little over $5, which might not seem expensive, but considering how quickly our big dog went through them, this is not a terribly economical dog snack. Given that Myah will eagerly devour leftovers and a wide array of human food as well as the most basic, inexpensive dog food for big dogs, it is hard to splurge on a treat she devours so quickly. What makes it worthwhile over so many other snacks or foods is how Myah continues to be enamored with them. Myah sat pretty and did other basic tricks that she has resisted doing in order to get the Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights dog treats, this makes the Stars a wonderful training tool!

The Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights dog treats are little tan dog snacks that look like little bacon and cheese cookies. Rather nicely, when the box is opened (both initially and after the first time!) it smells strongly of bacon and cheddar cheese. There is a salty, surprisingly compelling aroma that comes out of the box of Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights, likely to make a human’s mouth water as much as your dog's! Each snack is approximately 1 5/8" and 3/8" thick. The surface of the five-point star-shaped snack has what looks like bacon bits embedded in it. As well, it is hard enough that it helps brush the dog's tongue as they chew it.

The crispy Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights helps physically remove plaque and other build-up from dog’s teeth. Myah’s breath improved noticeably when we gave her the Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights treats for a week. Knowing there is a clear dental benefit for these treats helped me rate them higher; these treats help minimize the need to brush your dog’s teeth and can save money at the vet’s.

The Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights dog treats are very healthy. With at least 7% crude protein, 8% crude fat and no more than 4% crude fiber and 12% moisture, the Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights offer some decent nutrition to dogs. Made primarily of wheat flour, animal fat, and sugar, Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights do contain actual bacon and dried cheese powder and have nothing bad in them. In fact, because of the lack of extensive preservatives, these treats only have about a year shelf life (our box would have expired in February 2013, had Myah not eaten them right up!). As with all dog treats, it is highly recommended that when you give your dog Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights, you make sure they have a decent supply of clean water available. Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights treats are not intended to replace dog food.

Ultimately, Purina Beneful Stars Baked Delights are an exceptionally good dog treat, well worth buying!.
