Edy’s Caramel Delight Slow Churned Ice Cream Is Full Of Flavorful, Light On Fat!

The Good: Light on fat, Tastes good, Good ingredients, Inexpensive
The Bad: Could use more caramel in the swirl!
The Basics: I was surprised by how fast Edy’s Caramel Delight Slow Churned Ice Cream became a mainstay around my home! But it has and it is worth it!

For the last year, my wife has been on a ketogenic diet and that means limiting her carbs. The process of adjusting to that - as far as menu planning and shopping - has been quite a transition around our home. I could never do a ketogenic diet, if for no other reason than that I love ice cream and candy far too much. My wife has made that sacrifice, though, and on the rare times she sneaks a non-keto-friendly snack, she does not over-indulge because the change in diet has made sweet foods seem overly sweet to her now. One of the few treats that meets both her dietary requirements and satisfies her tastebuds is Edy's Caramel Delight Slow Churned Ice Cream!

Edy’s’s Caramel Delight Slow Churned Ice Cream is a fairly light, delicious ice cream with a truly wonderful caramel swirl that is sweet and true to the promised flavor!

Basics

Edy’s ice cream comes in a one and a half quart cylindrical container. The Caramel Delight Slow Churned Ice Cream is a smooth ice cream broken up by a heavy swirl of caramel syrup throughout. At (locally) $5.99 a half gallon, the Edy’s ice cream is an affordable, mid-range ice cream. This is a standard Edy’s ice cream, available year round.

Ease Of Preparation

Edy’s Caramel Delight Slow Churned Ice Cream is a fairly basic ice cream with a malleable additive that is easy to navigate through with an ice cream scoop. As an ice cream, preparation is ridiculously simple: one need only open the top of the container, scoop out a half cup and consume! There is no trick to preparing or eating the Caramel Delight Slow Churned Ice Cream.

Taste

The Caramel Delight Slow Churned Ice Cream has virtually no aroma to it. Outside the actual caramel swirl in the Edy’s Caramel Delight Slow Churned ice cream, the ice cream does not smell like anything; the swirl smells like caramel, sweet and light!

In the mouth, Edy’s Caramel Delight Slow Churned ice cream tastes strongly of caramel. The ice cream is buttery and sweet, as one might expect from caramel. The caramel swirl infuses a powerfully sweet and appropriately buttery element to the flavor palate of the Edy’s Caramel Delight Slow Churned ice cream. This ends up as a very sweet, potent flavor of ice cream with a very true flavor.

The Edy’s Caramel Delight Slow Churned ice cream has a minorly sweet aftertaste to it, which does not last in the mouth for more than two minutes after the last bite of it is consumed.

Nutrition

The Edy’s Caramel Delight Slow Churned Ice Cream is a light ice cream with half the fat of usual ice cream. The one and a half quart container represents twelve half-cup servings. In the half-cup serving, there are 120 calories, only 30 of which are from fat. The three and a half grams of fat represent 5% of the RDA of fat, with 10% of one’s RDA of saturated fat coming in the 2 grams of saturated fat in this ice cream. One serving has 15 mg of cholesterol (that’s 5% of the RDA!) and 40 mg of Sodium (2% RDA). The only other real nutrient is three grams of protein, though there is also 8% of the RDA of Calcium and 2% of the RDA of Vitamin A in the Caramel Delight Slow Churned Ice Cream.

Edy’s has decent ingredients, too. Made primarily of Non-Fat Milk, cane sugar, and cream, the Caramel Delight Slow Churned is a decent ice cream! There is nothing unpronounceable in the ingredients list. This ice cream has an allergy warning for milk and is, obviously, not Vegan compliant.

Storage/Clean-Up

Edy’s ice cream is both a frozen and a dairy product, so it is pretty obvious that it must be kept frozen in order to remain viable. Kept frozen it remains fresh for months (my half gallon had an expiration date of July 1, 2017).

The Caramel Delight Slow Churned ice cream is an off-white color and might stain light clothing and some darker clothing. When the ice cream melts and gets onto fabrics, it will require one to wash it right out, consult a fabric guide for the best way to get it out. On nonporous surfaces, the ice cream wipes off exceptionally easily.

Overall

Edy’s Caramel Delight Slow Churned ice cream is good and it is a flavorful option of ice cream that is enough to satisfy consumers who are looking to reduce their fat intake with something truly yummy!
