Delicious, Healthy, And Expensive, Bossa Nova Organic Acai Blueberry Antioxidant Superjuice Drink Is (Mostly) Delightful! (My 200th Beverage Review!)

The Good: Tastes great!
The Bad: Expensive, Not nearly as healthy as other premium bottled juice products.
The Basics: Bossa Nova Organic Acai Blueberry Antioxidant Superjuice Drink is a very healthy, less-robustly flavored beverage for health-conscious individuals.

The thing about starting to consume and review premium juice products is that one very quickly realizes just how little nutrition there is in most store-bought juices. That’s not a radical notion, it’s the truth. The difference between refrigerated juice drinks, juices from concentrate, and nutrition-rich fruit smoothies that are packed with nutrients is incredible. So, when I had my first opportunity to try a Bossa Nova superjuice drink, I was actually surprised when it was only 58% juice (which seems pretty diluted for a premium juice product) and it had nutrition specifications that more closely resembled a carton juice than a bottled juice.

My first Bossa Nova juice drink was Organic Acai Blueberry and it was delightful, despite its lack of real nutrition elements.

Basics

Bossa Nova is a health drink brand, which is like an energy drink except that is designed for more of a full-health solution and they tend to taste better. This is a fruit juice that is surprisingly light on nutrients. Bossa Nova Organic Acai Blueberry comes in a 10 fl. oz. plastic bottle that is curvy, smooth and very portable. The #1 recyclable bottle is filled with the opaque rich purple liquid, which looks much like wine or grape juice. Bossa Nova juice products is a comparatively new, trendy brand and the Organic Acai Blueberry antioxidant superjuice drink is my first experience with the brand. Right off the bat, it felt pretty expensive at more than $2/bottle!

The 10 fl. oz. bottle gives consumers a full serving.

Ease Of Preparation

Bossa Nova Organic Acai Blueberry Antioxidant Superjuice Drink is a liquid in the 10 fl. oz. bottle and is a ready-to-drink beverage. So, preparation is as easy as opening a plastic bottle. Organic Acai Blueberry has a plastic cap that easily twists off and can be put back on in order to reseal it. It is important to note that this is supposed to be refrigerated, so quality of the beverage will degrade if it is left out at room temperature before or after the bottle is open. This has a pretty standard security seal ring around the lower half of the cap and informs the consumer as to whether the product has been opened by cracking off when the top is twisted.

Taste

In the bottle, the Bossa Nova Acai Blueberry smells exactly like blueberries. In fact, the aroma is so distinctive that one might mistake it for the smell of blueberry muffins hot from the oven or a blueberry candle. This is a delightfully aromatic scent!

On the tongue, Acai Blueberry is a richly fruity beverage. I have only had acai in drinks like teas before this, but those teas have always been fairly sour. Blueberry, in its truest form, is also fairly sour. So, I was very impressed that the Acai Blueberry antioxidant superfruit drink managed to very truly capture the delightful berry flavor of blueberries without the awful, acidic, aftertaste! Instead, this tasted like a liquefied version of blueberry pie filling!

This drink does not leave an aftertaste, neither dry nor sweet!

Nutrition

As a healthy fruit beverage, Bossa Nova Organic Acai Blueberry Protein Superjuice Drink is designed to fill in some of the nutritional gaps one might have in their diet, but this beverage falls woefully short of that. Nutritionally, Bossa Nova Organic Acai Blueberry is a fair option for those who are dieting or are trying to improve their health. Organic Acai Blueberry is primarily composed of organic clarifies acai juice, water, and organic agave nectar (which is probably why it was so sweet!). It contains nothing bad, which might be why it expires so quickly. It is Vegan compliant, gluten-free, soy-free, and certified organic!

One serving of Organic Acai Blueberry has 90 calories and no fat. While there are 23 grams of carbohydrates, the beverage has no cholesterol, nor protein! There is a negligible 25 mg (1% RDA) of sodium in each serving. Outside the 50mg Potassium, the only nutrients this drink has are 2% RDA of Calcium, Magnesium, and Vitamin B6.

Storage/Clean-up

Bossa Nova Organic Acai Blueberry Superjuice Drink comes in a plastic bottle and it keeps for only a few weeks. The bottle I bought at the beginning of August had an expiration date of August 6, 2012 (I consumed the ones I bought well before that!). Because it includes no preservatives and is organic, this beverage must be refrigerated!

This drink is a fruit product and an opaque purple. If this gets on clothes, it will absolutely stain them, especially light clothes. Consult a care guide for your clothes, though I suspect light clothes would need bleach to get this out. Still, the drink wipes off surfaces easily with a cloth, assuming they are impermeable.

Overall

Bossa Nova Organic Acai Blueberry Antioxidant Superjuice Drink might not be the most nutritious drink, but I would be hard pressed to recall a fully organic fruit drink I have had lately that was sweeter and more delicious than this!

    1. It does seem to be tougher to find now. Have you tried contacting the company to buy it direct?

Thanks for reading and thanks for the comment!
