The Good: Very nutritious, Myah enjoys it, No real odor
The Bad: Expensive.
The Basics: Myah enjoyed each bowlful of California Natural Chicken Meal & Rice Formula dog food she had, while my budget could afford it!
In all of my many experiments with dog food for Myah, my Siberian Husky, I have discovered that quality ingredients for dog food is pretty much what the premium brands are making one pay for (even more than just a brand name). I was surprised by California Natural Chicken Meal & Rice Formula dog food because it seems to have good ingredients, but it has no odor to it, which is very uncommon for a premium dog food. Given my budget, I could only afford the five pound bag of California Natural Chicken Meal & Rice Formula dog food for Myah, but in her time with that bag, Myah made it clear she enjoyed this un-smelly dog food!
Basics
A single serving of California Natural Chicken Meal & Rice Formula dog food is two cups for a big dog like Myah and she is supposed to get one such serving per day, so a five pound bag only lasts about a week with her. That is a bit too expensive for me, though there is a larger bulk bag (30 lbs.) in the $50 range. Each piece of California Natural Chicken Meal & Rice Formula dog food is a light brown cylinder that is hard. They are approximately 1/2" in diameter and 3/8” tall. They have a fairly smooth appearance and are very hard. Myah often eats these a couple pellets at a time.
Ease Of Preparation
As a dry dog food, preparation of California Natural Chicken Meal & Rice Formula dog food is as easy as opening a bag and measuring out the pellets inside. There is no further prep needed.
Myah’s Reaction
Myah enjoys this food, which surprised me. Previously, she has really only gone for the premium foods that have a strong aroma to them. Given that Chicken Meal & Rice Formula dog food does not, I was surprised by how Myah goes for it very eagerly. No matter how much Myah had in her bowl, she eats as much of the California Natural Chicken Meal & Rice Formula that I feed her. No matter how much she eats, Myah’s breath does not smell bad after eating it. Given that it is a hard food, her teeth get cleaned by this food.
