Myah Endorses Another Zignature Dog Food With Their Trout & Salmon Formula!

The Good: Very nutritious, Myah enjoys it, Not as expensive as many other premium dog foods
The Bad: Somewhat expensive, Made Myah’s breath stink!
The Basics: Outside how fishy Zignature Limited Ingredient Formula Trout & Salmon Meal Formula adult dog food made Myah’s breath, it is easy to recommend this dog food!.

Myah, my five year-old Siberian Husky, has never had (since we got her) any issues with bad breath. She is, in fact, very hygienic in that way and we feed her with good, hard foods, which tend to keep her teeth clean. However, we discovered with her second Zignature Limited Ingredient Dog Food – the first being the Lamb Formula, reviewed here! – that the detraction of the natural ingredients became surprisingly obvious; it left our poor girl with terrible breath, consistently! The Zignature Limited Ingredient Formula Trout & Salmon Meal Formula dog food may be one Myah prefers and actively eats, but it makes her breath stink!

Because she continually comes back for it, Zignature Limited Ingredient Formula Trout & Salmon Meal Formula dog food, Myah clearly recommends it. But with the way her breath smells like fish afterward, it is hard to endorse it as vigorously as I otherwise would!

Basics

A single serving of Zignature Limited Ingredient Formula Trout & Salmon Meal Formula dog food is two and a half cups for a big dog like Myah and she is supposed to get one such serving per day, so a twenty-seven pound bag actually lasts a decent amount of time. Getting two to three months out of the $50 bag is just on the border of “too expensive” for me. Each piece of Zignature Limited Ingredient Formula Trout & Salmon Meal Formula dog food is a dark brown, like a Cocoa Puff, disc that is very mealy in its texture, though they are hard. They are approximately 1/2" in diameter and 3/16” tall. They have a mealy, textured appearance and are very hard. Myah often eats these several pellets at a time.

Ease Of Preparation

As a dry dog food, preparation of Zignature Trout & Salmon Meal Formula dog food is as easy as opening a bag and measuring out the pellets inside. There is no further prep needed.

Myah’s Reaction

The Trout & Salmon Meal Formula smells strongly of fish whenever one opens the bag. The smell brings Myah running within a minute – even if she is asleep. I have seen her go from asleep to the side of the dish in forty-five seconds and I can only assume it is because the smell has awoken her, but it brings her running! Myah is that drawn to this flavor. Regardless of how much of other foods she has had to eat – or how much of the Trout & Salmon Meal Formula dog food Myah eats – she will devour all of this that is placed before her. The smell is overbearing and it lingers in Myah’s mouth whenever she is fed it.

Nutrition

Zignature Limited Ingredient Formula Trout & Salmon Meal Formula dog food smells very fishy and is therefore no surprise that it is made with real Trout & Salmon Meal. Made primarily of Trout, Salmon Meal, and peas, the ingredients are almost all natural. This is a potato and grain free dog food. According to the guaranteed analysis, Zignature Limited Ingredient Formula Trout & Salmon Meal Formula dog food has at least 30% crude protein, 14% crude fat, but no more than 6.5% crude fiber and 10% moisture. As a dry dog food, it is highly recommended that you have adequate water available for your dog when serving it Zignature Limited Ingredient Formula Trout & Salmon Meal Formula dog food.

Overall

Zignature Limited Ingredient Formula Trout & Salmon Meal Formula dog food is good, but between the breath detraction and the price, it matters less how much Myah loves it; it’s a little harder on the owner!
