Myah Plays With Her Food When It Is NutriSource Large Breed Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula!

The Good: Very nutritious, Myah will eat it, Not as expensive as many other premium dog foods
The Bad: Somewhat expensive, Myah is hardly enthusiastic for it.
The Basics: Myah was far more neutral to the NutriSource Large Breed Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula dog food I picked up for her than most dog foods she has tried.

To the best of my knowledge, Myah, my Siberian Husky, has no particular dietary restrictions that would require her to eat only grain free dog foods. So, it was not the dietary goodness of NutriSource Large Breed Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula dog food that led me to feed her the food. As part of my weekly experimenting with her, I picked up a thirty pound bag of the food to see if she reacted differently to it than she did other dog foods. Whether it was because it was Grain Free or just a new-to-her food, Myah was far more neutral to the NutriSource Large Breed Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula dog food than she was to many others I have tried with her lately.

Even so, Myah did eat the NutriSource Large Breed Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula dog food and it seems to be made up of quality ingredients.

Basics

A single serving of NutriSource Large Breed Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula dog food is two and a half cups for a big dog like Myah and she is supposed to get one such serving per day, so a thirty pound bag actually lasts a decent amount of time. Getting about two months out of the $50 bag is a bit too expensive for me, as a general rule. Each piece of NutriSource Large Breed Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula dog food is a dark brown disc that is very mealy in its texture and they are hard. They are 3/4" in diameter and 3/16” thick.

Ease Of Preparation

As a dry dog food, preparation of NutriSource Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula dog food is as easy as opening a bag and measuring out the pellets inside. There is no further prep needed.

Myah’s Reaction

The NutriSource Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula actually smells, unsurprisingly, like fresh roasted lamb. This is a very aromatic dog food, though the aroma is not unpleasant. Myah actually behaved with this food in a most peculiar, though consistent manner. Myah nosed around in the food, moving the pellets around each time for several minutes before eating it. While she did eat it, each and every time, she delayed significantly and played with her food as opposed to eating it with anything approaching enthusiasm. Still, she does consistently eat this food, as opposed to refusing to consume it.

Nutrition

NutriSource Large Breed Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula dog food is made primarily of Lamb meal, peas and pea starch, the ingredients are all natural, though there are added minerals for canine health. According to the guaranteed analysis, NutriSource Large Breed Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula dog food has at least 23% crude protein, 14% crude fat, but no more than 6% crude fiber and 10% moisture. As a dry dog food, it is highly recommended that you have adequate water available for your dog when serving it NutriSource Large Breed Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula dog food.

Overall

NutriSource Large Breed Grain Free Lamb Meal Formula dog food is intriguing, but not superlative, making it worth recommending only for dogs that absolutely need the grain free diet.
