Fun And Flavorful, Edy's Cinnamon Bun Fun Ice Cream Is Worth Trying!

The Good: Not entirely un-nutritious, Inexpensive, Tastes good and like what it is supposed to!
The Bad: Flavor varies quite a bit based on whether or not one has the cinnamon swirl in the bite.
The Basics: Edy’s Slow Churned Cinnamon Bun Fun Ice Cream is flavorful, though somewhat inconsistent in its flavoring.

Despite it being winter, I am once more eagerly enjoying and reviewing ice cream. Today, my treat is Edy’s Cinnamon Bun Fun Ice Cream and it is a treat. Edy’s Cinnamon Bun Fun Ice Cream is an ice cream that is true to flavor for the bites that contain cinnamon, as opposed to the bites that are just vanilla ice cream. As part of the Slow Churned line, it has ½ the fat and 1/3 the calories of most Edy’s ice creams and as a lover of baked goods like cinnamon buns (but as one whose metabolism is changing such that I can no longer gorge on such treats), the Cinnamon Bun Fun ice cream is a true treat.

Edy’s Cinnamon Bun Fun Ice Cream is a delightful, true-to-flavor ice cream that is worth trying; given that it is a limited edition flavor, the time one has to try it

Basics

Edy’s ice cream comes in a one and a half quart cylindrical container. The Cinnamon Bun Fun Ice Cream is a smooth ice cream broken up by a red/brown swirl of cinnamon sugar. At (locally) $4.99 a 1.5 quart tub, this Edy’s ice cream is an affordable, mid-range ice cream. This is a Slow Churned Edy’s ice cream, which has been an expanding line from Edy’s the last few years.

Ease Of Preparation

Edy’s Cinnamon Bun Fun Ice Cream is a very basic ice cream. As an ice cream, preparation is ridiculously simple: one need only open the top of the container, scoop out a half cup and consume! There is no trick to preparing or eating the Cinnamon Bun Fun Ice Cream.

Taste

The Cinnamon Bun Fun Ice Cream smells delightfully of cinnamon and sugar. The aroma is distinctive to anyone who loves cinnamon buns. The aroma is sweet and dry and instantly recognizable. This is an ice cream that becomes more aromatic as the ice cream nears room temperature!

In the mouth, the Cinnamon Bun Fun ice cream is sweet and creamy, with a distinctly spicy flavor to the brown swirls in the ice cream. The swirls carry all of the cinnamon flavor and the combination is like having a bun with tons of cold icing with bursts of cinnamon. The ice cream is not quite as sweet as icing, but the combination of ice cream and cinnamon has a net flavor that is similar to a true cinnamon bun!

The Cinnamon Bun Fun Ice Cream has a very dry aftertaste, at least when one’s last bite comes from the cinnamon swirl. Finishing with the ice cream leaves one’s mouth filled with a sweet, creamy flavor that does not last on the tongue very long at all.

Nutrition

The Edy’s Cinnamon Bun Fun Ice Cream is a fairly light ice cream with a broken up by grainy cinnamon sugar swirled through the center of the ice cream. The one and a half quart container represents twelve half-cup servings. In the half-cup serving, there are 110 calories, only 30 of which are from fat. The 3.5 grams of fat represent 5% of the RDA of fat, with 8% of one’s RDA of saturated fat coming in the 1.5 grams of saturated fat in this ice cream. One serving has 5 mg of cholesterol (that’s 2% of the RDA!) and 50 mg of Sodium (2% RDA). The only other real nutrient is two grams of protein, though there is also 6% of the RDA of Calcium and 4% of the RDA Vitamin A in the Cinnamon Bun Fun Ice Cream.

Edy’s has decent ingredients, too. Made primarily of Non-fat Milk, sugar and corn syrup, Cinnamon Bun Fun is a decent ice cream! There is nothing unpronounceable in the ingredients list.

Storage/Clean-Up

Edy’s ice cream is both a frozen and a dairy product, so it is pretty obvious that it must be kept frozen in order to remain viable. Kept frozen it remains fresh for months (my half gallon had an expiration date of September 13, 2014).

The Cinnamon Bun Fun ice cream is very light and the opaque white color is unlikely to stain clothing. The cinnamon swirl will likely stain light fabrics. When the ice cream melts and gets onto fabrics, it will require one to wash it right out. On nonporous surfaces, the ice cream wipes off exceptionally easily.

Overall

Edy’s Cinnamon Bun Fun ice cream is flavorful and worth hunting down . . . while it is still available!
