The Good: Tastes great, Not entirely un-nutritious, Inexpensive, Tastes incredibly chocolatey!
The Bad: The peanut butter cups are not very peanut buttery.
The Basics: Edy’s How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream is an exceptionally good chocolate and peanut butter flavored ice cream!
Since I started reviewing ice creams, I have discovered that even though I love all sorts of different flavors of ice cream, there are very few that actually rate as perfect. One of the things I have noticed is that many ice creams that feature additives, especially chocolate ones, do not use particularly high quality chocolate for the additives. That, alas, is the only drawback of Edy’s How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream is that the peanut butter cups are not as robustly flavored as the ice cream itself.
Edy’s’s How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream is a heavy, delicious, very chocolatey ice cream with hard little peanut butter cups embedded throughout the ice cream and a slight peanut butter swirl to it.
Edy’s ice cream comes in a one and a half quart cylindrical container. The How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream is a smooth ice cream broken up by 1/2” in diameter chocolate peanut butter cups that are 1/4” thick. At (locally) $5.99 a half gallon, this Edy’s ice cream is an affordable, mid-range ice cream. This is a standard Edy’s ice cream, available year round.
Ease Of Preparation
Edy’s How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream is a very basic ice cream. As an ice cream, preparation is ridiculously simple: one need only open the top of the container, scoop out a half cup and consume! There is no trick to preparing or eating the How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream.
The How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream smells like dark chocolate and peanut butter. The initially nutty and chocolatey scent is entirely inviting and anyone who loves peanut butter and chocolate is liable to be enticed by this ice cream.
Edy’s How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream is as richly chocolate flavored as the scent insinuates it will be. The chocolate flavor is only slightly sweet. There is a dry flavor from a peanut butter swirl that is mixed into the chocolate ice cream. The chocolate and peanut butter flavors blend in the most delightful way possible. The chocolate peanut butter cups are made of a slightly waxy chocolate and they do not have a ton of peanut butter in them. Instead, they actually break up the well-blended flavor of chocolate and peanut butter.
For no clear reason, despite the peanut butter in the How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream having a very dry flavor, this ice cream does not have a dry aftertaste to it.
The Edy’s How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream is a very thick, heavy, ice cream with a substantial candy additive. The one and a half quart container represents twelve half-cup servings. In the half-cup serving, there are 180 calories, 90 of which are from fat. The ten grams of fat represent 15% of the RDA of fat, with 25% of one’s RDA of saturated fat coming in the 5 grams of saturated fat in this ice cream. One serving has 20 mg of cholesterol (that’s 7% of the RDA!) and 65 mg of Sodium (3% RDA). The only other real nutrient is three grams of protein, though there is also 6% of the RDA of Calcium and 4% of the RDA of Iron and Vitamin A in the How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream.
Edy’s has decent ingredients, too. Made primarily of Skim Milk, cream, and sugar, How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup is a decent ice cream! There is nothing unpronounceable in the ingredients list.
Edy’s ice cream is both a frozen and a dairy product, so it is pretty obvious that it must be kept frozen in order to remain viable. Kept frozen it remains fresh for months (my half gallon had an expiration date of February 17, 2014).
The How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream is very dark, opaque brown, and will certainly stain light clothing, and some darker clothing. When the ice cream melts and gets onto fabrics, it will require one to wash it right out. On nonporous surfaces, the ice cream wipes off exceptionally easily.
Edy’s How I Love Thee Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream is one of the best, peanut butter and chocolate-flavored ice creams, despite the less robust and distinctive peanut butter cups that are in it!
