A Pretty Wonderful Kitchen Tool, Domestix Supreme Clean Kitchen Scrubber Sponge Are Durable In Some Essential Ways!

The Good: Inexpensive, Durable, Easy to use and clean
The Bad: Scrubbing pad wears out/separates comparatively fast.
The Basics: A less expensive kitchen sponge than the big brand names, Domestix Supreme Clean Kitchen Scrubber Sponge work better in many ways!

Before moving to Michigan, I stocked up on many kitchen and household cleaning items. One of the few that I have gone through quicker than the others, yet still have something good to say anything about are the Domestix Supreme Clean Kitchen Scrubber Sponge. The Domestix Supreme Clean Kitchen Scrubber Sponge are a less expensive alternative to the usual Scotch-Brite or S.O.S. kitchen scrubbing sponges. Two three-packs at regular price cost about the same as a single three pack of one of the major brands.

The Domestix Supreme Clean Kitchen Scrubber Sponge is a 4 9/16” long by 2 5/8” wide by 3/4" thick kitchen scrubbing sponge! This is a yellow sponge with a green scrubbing pad (reminiscent of steel wool, but made of vinyl and therefore not as abrasive as its steel counterpart) fused to the top. The scrubbing pad accounts for 3/16” of the sponge’s thickness. Like most kitchen sponges, the Domestix Supreme Clean Kitchen Scrubber Sponge come moist and ready to clean. This gives them a rigidity and absorbency right out of the package that is very useful.

As far as basic kitchen cleaning goes, the Domestix Supreme Clean Kitchen Scrubber Sponges are exceptional. The sponge side soaks up spills efficiently and the scrubbing side actually is ideal both for abrasiveness and the way it does not scratch non-stick surfaces. This sponge is a great staple item.

What separates it, on the positive side, from other kitchen sponges, is how easy it is to clean. In the normal course of serving as a kitchen sponge, the scrubbing side and the sponge may encounter quite a bit of grease, dirty water, and fluids that might make a kitchen sponge smell moldy and unhygienic. That has never once been the case with the Domestix Supreme Clean Kitchen Scrubber Sponges I have used, though. Why? This sponge may easily go through the dishwasher to get cleaned and completely revitalized! Put it through a normal dishwashing cycle – the sponge will not break apart at all! – squeeze it out after the cycle is done and give it about an hour or two to dry some and it is fresh, as if it just came from the package!

Unfortunately, the incredible cleaning power and ability to clean the Domestix Supreme Clean Kitchen Scrubber Sponge is balanced by a strong negative. The scrubber part of the Domestix Supreme Clean Kitchen Scrubber Sponge wears out at a problematically fast rate. We go through one of these sponges every three weeks (there are only two of us in our home!) and that is because the scrubber side detaches from the sponge and renders it half the sponge it is supposed to be. When the scrubbing side becomes unusable, we have been stripping them off, sending them through the dishwasher and using them as household cleaning sponges in other rooms. While this is not a bad use of the resulting, super-durable sponge, it is not what we paid for when we purchased the Domestix Supreme Clean Kitchen Scrubber Sponge.

Still, it is not enough to sink the Domestix Supreme Clean Kitchen Scrubber Sponge. These are generally a quality kitchen sponge that is worthwhile for home kitchen use.
