Crunch Peanut Butter Creme Limited Edition Cookie Flavors

The Good: Taste good, Decent size for regulating portion, Inexpensive, No aftertaste
The Bad: No real nutritional benefit (and some detractions), Melts very easily, Somewhat unremarkable for the size/price.
The Basics: Crunch Peanut Butter Creme Limited Edition Cookie Flavors candy bars are a fun candy novelty, but not one likely to be missed when the limited edition nature ends.

This afternoon, my wife returned home from her craptastic new job with a special gift for me. Despite us being in an unfortunately financially precarious place, she came home with a special treat for me to enjoy and review. She picked up a bunch of the new Crunch Limited Edition cookie candy bars. These bars are remarkably similar to the Reese’s Crispy Crunch (reviewed here!) and we decided to go for the Peanut Butter Crème bars first!

And these bars are all right, but they are hardly so original or incredible that when the Girl Scouts stop their affiliation with Nestle to raise money the would be missed.

Basics

Crunch Peanut Butter Creme Limited Edition Cookie Flavors are milk chocolate wafer cookie candies that come wrapped in a 1.3 oz size, which have two bars, each one is roughly one and three-sixteenth inches wide by two inches long and a 5/8" height. Interestingly, this is considered only one serving, so sharing the package with someone else cuts the calories in half! This is a decent candy that comes individually wrapped like virtually every other candy bar on the planet. This is a chocolate coated wafer cookie with peanut butter filling used between the wafer cookies. It is most analogous to a KitKat bar and it is not bad at all.

For those who have never had a wafer cookie candy bar before, wafer cookies are a light, almost styrofoam-type layered sugary cookie that are layered to make a thicker cookie. Usually, between layers of the cookies is a substance like chocolate or vanilla cream; a paste that is flavored. Moisture - or saliva - dissolves the wafer and the cream within the coating, so many people who savor candy like this either let the coating melt away in their mouth and let the wafer cookie's cream center dissolve without chewing. That works perfectly well for the Crunch Peanut Butter Creme Limited Edition Cookie Flavors.

The coating of the Crunch Peanut Butter Creme Limited Edition Cookie Flavors is a milk chocolate coating. It is a fairly bland and generic mass-produced milk chocolate coating and it's not going to win any awards for that, though it is not at all as waxy as many other mass produced chocolates. The coating is not strong enough to prevent the candy from getting crushed if one smushes the bar.

Ease Of Preparation

Well, these are candy so preparation is pretty much limited to opening the wrapper and popping candy into one's mouth. Do not try to swallow Crunch Peanut Butter Creme Limited Edition Cookie Flavors wafer candies whole and you'll be fine!

Taste

The Crunch Peanut Butter Creme Limited Edition Cookie Flavors smells richly of chocolate and mass-produced peanut butter. The scent is delightful and familiar to anyone who has ever baked chocolate peanut butter chip cookies or who has had any really chocolate and peanut butter candies before.

On the tongue, the Peanut Butter Crème Crunch bars feature a chocolate that melts away almost instantly, leaving a thin wafer cookie bar beneath. The cookie is strongly peanut butter flavored and it tastes just like what one would expect from peanut butter. In fact, as one chews the cookie bar, the wafer seems to dissolve and disappear leaving only the flavor of peanut butter on the tongue. The sweetness of the chocolate actually dissipates the dryness of the peanut butter. The result is a surprisingly delightful flavor with all the benefits of peanut butter and chocolate without the dry detriments that usually accompany peanut butter or cookies!

These candy bars have no real aftertaste to them!

Nutrition

This is candy, so it's not exactly designed to be the healthiest thing on the planet. However, because this possesses some peanut butter, it is also not the least healthy candy on the planet. The Crunch Peanut Butter Creme Limited Edition Cookie Flavors candy bars are made primarily of sugar, wafer, and peanuts. Surprisingly there are very few preservatives that were not recognizable.

Crunch Peanut Butter Creme Limited Edition Cookie Flavors wafer candy bars have 190 calories per serving and the 9 grams of fat are somewhat intimidating! The 9 grams of fat represent 14% of the recommended daily value of fat and that's 27% of the daily recommended saturated fat. The ingredients pretty much diminish the simple pleasure of the candy! At least these candy bars don't taste like fat!

There are 160 milligrams of sodium and 13 grams of sugars. Unsurprisingly, given that there are peanuts in this candy, there are three grams of protein in a serving of Crunch Peanut Butter Creme Limited Edition Cookie Flavors wafer candies. The only other real nutrient is the 4% RDA of Calcium.

These are not nutritious, so if you were thinking of living off them, you might want to reconsider.

Storage/Clean-up

The Crunch Peanut Butter Creme Limited Edition Cookie Flavors bars store just fine in its wrapper and as long as it is kept in a cool, dry (preferably dark) place they ought to last for quite some time, though I could not find an expiration date on mine (though there was a batch code, unless these bars do not expire until 2057!).

Like all chocolate products, it is not recommended to let the chocolate melt into any fabric as it will leave a stain. If it does so, be sure to consult a fabric guide to protect your clothes while getting them clean.

Overall

Crunch Peanut Butter Creme Limited Edition Cookie Flavors is a good candy for fans of peanut butter, but the benefit of a lack of aftertaste is pretty unremarkable for the price compared to similarly-priced higher-quality candies. But for those who might not love Girl Scout Cookies who want to support the Girl Scouts, this is a pretty decent way to go!
