The Bad: None that I can find.
The Basics: Close enough to perfect, it seems Jelly Belly fixed the problems when they upgraded to Sunkist Pink Grapefruit jelly beans and these are worth picking up!

When I began to find the Sunkist fruit flavors of Jelly Belly jelly beans, I began to think that Jelly Belly was pulling one over on loyal customers like me. After all, some of their new flavors sounded suspiciously like the old flavors. What real difference could there be, I asked myself, between Pink Grapefruit (reviewed here!) and Sunkist Pink Grapefruit Jelly Bellys? Well, it turns out selling out to Sunkist for the name and the addition of real fruit juice or fruit puree in the jelly beans makes all the difference. Why? Sunkist Pink Grapefruit Jelly Belly jelly beans endure with their taste, whereas the standard ones had a taste that faded. That simple difference makes the Sunkist Pink Grapefruit Jelly Bellys worth stocking up on!

For those who might never have had Jelly Belly jelly beans, these are easily the best jelly beans on the planet, packing a lot of flavor into a very small size. Unlike most jelly beans which are only vaguely flavored and are more based on colors, Jelly Belly jelly beans have a wide variety of actual flavors, like Juicy Pear, Strawberry Jam, Red Apple or their signature flavor Buttered Popcorn.

Who needs one to three pounds of Sunkist Pink Grapefruit flavored Jelly Belly's? Anyone who likes grapefruit, but not the sun and hot weather in Florida. In the variable bulk, consumers will tend to find this to be affordable as well as delicious.

Basics

Sunkist Pink Grapefruit is a flavor of Jelly Belly jelly beans. Jelly Belly jelly beans are approximately one half inch long by one quarter inch wide and they are roughly bean-shaped. These little candies are marketed to taste precisely like Sunkist Pink Grapefruit and they nail the flavor quite well, though they do taste like pink grapefruit slices with sugar on them!

Sunkist Pink Grapefruit flavored Jelly Belly's are available in a wide array of quantities, but the most environmentally responsible one is the ten pound box. The Sunkist Pink Grapefruit flavor is a good one, tasting just like Sunkist - or any other, I suppose - grapefruits.

Sunkist Pink Grapefruit flavored Jelly Belly's are easily distinguishable from other flavors of Jelly Bellys by their light pink color. Sunkist Pink Grapefruit is a pink and white Jelly Belly that looks unlike any of the others in any of the assortments. Of course, purchased in its own box, there is nothing to worry about when it comes to potentially mixing this bean up with others!

Ease Of Preparation

These are jelly beans, not picking pink grapefruits at the right time so they remain fresh enough to eat when you get them back home after driving straight down to Florida because you had a hankering for grapefruit. Preparing them is as easy as opening the bag and popping one (or a handful) into your mouth. In the case of the ten pound box, one might want to put them in a candy dish of some form as opposed to always going into the bag, to avoid spilling. Then again, the box can be convenient at times without risking spilling from a dish.

Taste

Sunkist Pink Grapefruit Jelly Bellys have a subtle sugary aroma which does not inform the consumer what they are in for when they pop one of them in their mouth. And that experience is one that is likely to surprise those not ready for it. The shells of these Jelly Bellys are bland, then kick out a sour taste, much like a pink grapefruit does. It lulls the consumer in with a slightly sweet taste, then hits the consumer with the full, fruity and sour taste of grapefruit.

Biting into this Jelly Belly afterward only increases the pleasure; they become even more sour, washing over the tongue like they are squirting juice. After a moment, the sour lets up and there is a fruity and sweet taste left on the tongue. This tastes like the full range of taste that comes from a pink grapefruit.

Fortunately, Sunkist Pink Grapefruit flavored Jelly Bellys do not diminish in taste when you eat them in quantity. Bean to bean and handful to handful, these are consistently sour and flavorful.

Nutrition

These are jelly beans, but these are actually made with Sunkist Pink Grapefruit fruit puree and contain Vitamin C. A serving of these beans contains 30% of one's RDA of Vitamin C! Jelly beans, even Jelly Belly jelly beans, are not a legitimate source of nutrition. These are a snack food, a dessert, and are in no way an adequate substitute for a real meal. A serving is listed at thirty-five beans, with each Jelly Belly jelly bean having approximately four calories. This means that in a single serving, there are 140 calories, which is 12% of your daily recommended intake.

The thing is, Jelly Belly jelly beans are not as bad as they could be in the nutrition area. They have no fat and no protein, but for those who have ever dated a Vegan, these are Vegan compliant because they contain no gelatin! They do have bee's wax in the coating, so be sure just how vigilant your Vegan is before feeding these to one. They have only one percent of the daily sodium with 15 mg and they are gluten free! The main ingredients are sugar, corn syrup and modified food starch, so it's not like this is an all-natural food, but they could be far, far worse.

Storage/Clean-up

Jelly Belly jelly beans have a shelf life of approximately one year and I have yet to run across a stale Jelly Belly (and this flavor is definitely going faster than that). They remain freshest when they are kept in an airtight container (the bag in the box is sufficient if it is kept closed) and they ought to be kept in a lukewarm environment. Storing them in hot places is likely to make the beans stick together and be gross. Kept in a cool, dry place, the beans retain their flavor perfectly.

As for cleanup, unless one allows the Jelly Belly to get hot to the point that the waxy coating on the bean melts, the dyes on these do not bleed or denature, so there is usually no cleanup necessary, not even washing one's hands after eating them (always wash your hands before eating Jelly Bellys, even if you don't have to worry about what might have been sprayed on the orchard). I've never had Sunkist Pink Grapefruit Jelly Belly's stain anything. That said, it's pretty wild to be able to eat something that tastes so much like Pink Grapefruits and not have to clean juice off one's fingers afterward!

Overall

Sunkist Pink Grapefruit Jelly Bellys are excellent and in bulk they can be a real deal, making one want to stock up on them!
