Two Out Of Three Cats Go Wild For Tiki Cat Chicken & Wild Salmon Velvet Mousse!

The Good: Wonderful ingredients, Good nutrition, Two of my cats adore it and one likes it
The Bad: Very expensive, No dental benefits
The Basics: Timber has a new favorite wet cat food in the form of Tiki Cat Chicken & Wild Salmon Velvet Mousse!

Finding a new, great, wet cat food for Timber is an increasingly rare thing. Timber is my oldest cat right now: he is turning 8 next month. Timber is a bit set in his ways. When it comes to wet cat food, the only ones he has ever loved are pates. That is, until recently. Recently, I began feeding Timber (and my other two cats) Tiki Cat Chicken & Wild Salmon Velvet Mousse. But the surprise for me was how very much Timber fell in love with this cat food!

Basics

Tiki Cat Chicken & Wild Salmon Velvet Mousse comes in a plastic 2.8 oz. single serve pouch, which is not resealable. Supposedly, all three of my cats for their weights and ages should eat at least two pouches per day! Even on sale, that would be far too expensive for us to feed them this mousse that much each day. As well, because it is a wet cat food, the Tiki Cat Chicken & Wild Salmon Velvet Mousse does not have any dental benefits that would encourage me to give the cats this each and every day to give them overall dental health. Elim, especially, needs to be attentive to his dental health, so despite his love of wet food and this food in particular, he needs harder foods than this for a daily balance.

Ease Of Preparation

The Chicken & Wild Salmon Velvet Mousse opens up easily enough in the 2.8 oz. plastic pouch. The small plastic pouch as a top that easily pulls off. Opening the pouch reveals the food inside. Velvet Mousse Chicken & Wild Salmon looks like pureed tuna or chicken, as it is tan, but does not have fishy chunks in it. This cat food may be dispensed into a cat's food dish by squeezing the food out of the pouch or spooning it out.

Evie, Elim And Timber’s Reactions

The Tiki Cat Chicken & Wild Salmon Velvet Mousse smells lightly fishy and very meaty. The aroma from this mousse is fairly strong, which might be why Timber, especially, came running each time I opened a packet of the cat food.

Timber went running for the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken & Wild Salmon Cat Food from the very first time I opened a pouch and served it up for the cats. Elim went right for it when the smell wafted to the nearby room he was in. Both Timber and Elim have repeatedly gone back for the Tiki Cat Chicken & Wild Salmon Velvet Mousse each time the food has been put out for them. Evie has been a little more neutral to it, but she has sampled the Tiki Cat Chicken & Wild Salmon Velvet Mousse. Given the voracious way Timber and Elim go for the Chicken & Wild Salmon Velvet Mousse with vigor, it is hard not to call it a winner!

Nutrition

The Velvet Mousse Chicken & Wild Salmon is very nutritious for cats and it has nothing noticeably bad in it. Considering that the primary ingredients are chicken broth, chicken and salmon, the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken & Wild Salmon Cat Food has quality ingredients enough to justify the price. According to the guaranteed analysis on the pouch, there is a minimum of 12% crude protein and 2% crude fat and no more than 1% crude fiber, 2% ash, and 80% moisture. This is food appears to be wheat-free and it most definitely requires refrigeration after it is opened!

I cannot afford to give Elim and Timber this each and every day, though Elim gets it quite often - especially since our local discount store started stocking it pretty regularly. Hard cat food has clear dental benefits that the Velvet Mousse Chicken & Wild Salmon does not have. When the cats chew (to split into bite-sized pieces) their hard cat food, it scrapes plaque and tartar off their teeth. There is no such physical operation going on with this cat food.

Overview

Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken & Wild Salmon grabbed two of my three cats instantly, including the most finicky one, making this a great wet catfood!

0-3 On Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal Fine Food For Cats!

The Good: Nothing that I can find
The Bad: Short shelf life, Expensive, None of my cats will eat it . . . at all!
The Basics: Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal Fine Cat Food is one of the worst cat foods I've ever tried to subject my three cats to!

My cats are not what I would call especially picky eaters. My cats try all sorts of food that I bring home for them and they are very much used to having their diets changed about every six months. After the last cat food that my two boys and little girl were fairly neutral to, I was pretty excited to give them a new premium cat food. Elim, Evie and Timber were given Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal With Delicious Brown Rice & Carrots Fine Food For Cats four days ago . . .

. . . and after a three day hunger strike, I ran out last night and got them a different food and all three eagerly consumed it as soon as I got home.

That makes the Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal With Delicious Brown Rice & Carrots Fine Food For Cats absolutely worthless.

Basics

Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal Fine Cat Food is a cat food formulated for all cats, but given that none of my cats would touch it, it is hard to argue how effective it is. The Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal Fine Cat Food regularly comes in a three pound heavy paper bag that is not resealable.

The Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal Fine Cat Food comes in hard pieces are three different shapes: tiny cylinders, hearts and chicken legs.

Ease Of Preparation

Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal Fine Cat Food is a hard cat food that comes in a small bag, so preparation only involves opening the bag and measuring out the proper serving size for your cat, as determined by its weight. Timber, Evie and Elim got between 1/2 and a full cup of the Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal Fine Cat Food each per day. The three cats were given the proper serving size four days ago . . . none of the cats consumed any of it.

Elim, Evie And Timber’s Reactions

The Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal Fine Cat Food smells strongly of grains. It does not even smell like the chicken meal, which is the first ingredient. Instead, this is a very grainy-smelling cat food.

Perhaps that is why none of the three cats we have would touch this food. Seriously; they went on a hunger strike for three days. My wife said she caught one of the cats yesterday eating some of Benny's dog food. None of the cats would eat any of the Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal With Delicious Brown Rice & Carrots Fine Food For Cats and they would rather starve or seek out other food than even try this food. That's pretty bad.

Nutrition

The Wholesome Chicken Meal Fine Cat Food is a supposedly nutritious cat food. The guaranteed analysis of it indicates that it has a minimum of 34% crude protein and 14% crude fat. With no more than 4% crude fiber and 10% moisture, this is a food that is very balanced and nutritious for most cats . . . if they could ever be enticed into eating any of it. Always have adequate water near your cat’s feeding area; our cats drank more while they were actively avoiding eating this food!

The main ingredients in the Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal With Delicious Brown Rice & Carrots Fine Food For Cats are: chicken meal, potatoes and corn.

Overview

Grandma's Dinner Wholesome Chicken Meal Fine Cat Food is an absolute failure as none of my wonderful cats would even try it!

Mackerel, Apparently, Makes All The Difference: Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Tuna & Mackerel Cat Food!

The Good: Wonderful ingredients, Good nutrition, One of my cats absolutely loves it!
The Bad: Very expensive, No dental benefits
The Basics: Elim pretty much begs for the Tiki Cat Tuna & Mackerel Pate cat food, which makes it a good distraction for my most active cat!

I am always fascinated, when it comes to pet foods, to see how minor differences affect a product. Not long ago, I reviewed Tiki Cat Tuna & Chicken Velvet Mousse (reviewed here!). My cats enjoyed it, but it was pretty expensive and the truth is, the Velvet Mousse line from Tiki Cat seemed to have a lot of flavors that were very similar. Despite that, I decided to give my cats some Tiki Cat Tuna & Mackerel Velvet Mousse and I was surprised how different the reactions were. For one of my three cats, the one who loves wet food, the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Tuna & Mackerel Cat Food is like crack; he woke up and ran for the dish when I served this food, which was quite surprising to me!

Basics

Tiki Cat Tuna & Mackerel Velvet Mousse comes in a plastic 2.8 oz. single serve pouch, which is not resealable. Supposedly, all three of my cats for their weights and ages should eat at least two pouches per day! Even on sale, that would be far too expensive for us to feed them this mousse that much each day. As well, because it is a wet cat food, the Tiki Cat Tuna & Mackerel Velvet Mousse does not have any dental benefits that would encourage me to give the cats this each and every day to give them overall dental health. Elim, especially, needs to be attentive to his dental health, so despite his love of wet food and this food in particular, he needs harder foods than this for a daily balance.

Ease Of Preparation

The Tuna & Mackerel Velvet Mousse opens up easily enough in the 2.8 oz. plastic pouch. The small plastic pouch as a top that easily pulls off. Opening the pouch reveals the food inside. Velvet Mousse Tuna & Mackerel looks like pureed salmon or tuurky, as it is brown, but does not have fishy chunks in it. This cat food may be dispensed into a cat's food dish by squeezing the food out of the pouch or spooning it out.

Evie, Elim And Timber’s Reactions

The Tiki Cat Tuna & Mackerel Velvet Mousse smells strongly fishy. The aroma from this mousse is fresh and realistic, completely embodying the promised tuna and mackerel, which makes sense given they are the dish's primary ingredients.

Evie and Timber both sampled the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Tuna & Mackerel Cat Food, but they barely had time to consume any before Elim muscled them out of the way. Elim lapped up all of the Tiki Cat Tuna & Mackerel Velvet Mousse that was put before him. The second time I decided to feed my cats Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Tuna & Mackerel Cat Food, Elim was asleep. I prepared the serving, brought it near him and in his sleep, he inhaled. His little eyes popped open and he chased me two rooms away to where I set the cat food! When a cat will go from dead asleep to chasing for a food within five seconds, it has to be something they seriously enjoy!

Nutrition

The Velvet Mousse Tuna & Mackerel is very nutritious for cats and it has nothing noticeably bad in it. Considering that the primary ingredients are tuna broth, tuna and mackerel, the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Tuna & Mackerel Cat Food has quality ingredients enough to justify the price. According to the guaranteed analysis on the pouch, there is a minimum of 14% crude protein and 2% crude fat and no more than 1% crude fiber, 2% ash, and 80% moisture. This is food appears to be wheat-free and it most definitely requires refrigeration after it is opened!

I cannot afford to give Elim and Timber this each and every day, though Elim gets it quite often - especially since our local discount store started stocking it pretty regularly. Hard cat food has clear dental benefits that the Velvet Mousse Tuna & Mackerel does not have. When the cats chew (to split into bite-sized pieces) their hard cat food, it scrapes plaque and tartar off their teeth. There is no such physical operation going on with this cat food.

Overview

Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Tuna & Mackerel might have won over only one of my three cats, but the ferocity with which Elim loves this food makes it surprisingly easy to recommend!

Only When Coaxed: Elim Reluctantly Eats Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken With Egg Cat Food!

The Good: On the second try Elim actually eats it, Wonderful ingredients, Good nutrition
The Bad: Very expensive, No dental benefits, Most of the cats don't eat them
The Basics: Tiki Cat Chicken With Egg Velvet Mousse cat food took my cats multiple cats to try and actually enjoy . . . and only one of our three cats was willing to actually consume it.

The thing about trying new cat foods with three different cats is that it often acts as an excellent litmus test for the product. How each cat interacts with a new cat food helps to make it very clear the overall value and appeal of the product. So, when all three of my cats avoid a product, it's a pretty decent indication that the food is not all that great. Such it the case with the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken With Egg Cat Food. It was only with the second packet of this particular food that I was able to entice my least-discriminating cat, Elim, into consuming any of it. That the other two cats, Timber (who loves wet food) and Evie (who is, to be fair, the most discriminating of the bunch), completely avoid the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken With Egg Cat Food indicates it's not a particularly extraordinary flavor.

Basics

Tiki Cat Chicken With Egg Velvet Mousse comes in a plastic 2.8 oz. single serve pouch, which is not resealable. Supposedly, all three of my cats for their weights and ages should eat one and a half pouches per day! Even on sale, that would be far too expensive for us to feed them this mousse that much each day. As well, because it is a wet cat food, the Tiki Cat Chicken With Egg Velvet Mousse does not have any dental benefits that would encourage me to give the cats this each and every day to give them overall dental health.

Ease Of Preparation

The Chicken With Egg Velvet Mousse opens up easily enough in the 2.8 oz. plastic pouch. The small plastic pouch as a top that easily pulls off. Opening the pouch reveals the food inside. Velvet Mousse Chicken With Egg looks like pureed salmon or tuna, though it is tan/pink and does not have fishy chunks in it. This cat food may be dispensed into a cat's food dish by squeezing the food out of the pouch or spooning it out.

Evie, Elim And Timber’s Reactions

The Tiki Cat Chicken With Egg Velvet Mousse smells like chicken. The chicken aroma is decent and actually smells inviting enough to a human nose to make it somewhat surprising that none of the cats came running for it.

Evie and Timber both avoided the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken With Egg Cat Food each time I tried to feed it to them. Elim could not be enticed the first time to try the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken With Egg Cat Food. However, the second time I brought out the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken With Egg Cat Food, Elim eventually went over and ate it. He ate most of the dish of the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken With Egg Cat Food. That he half-assed consumed it and did not finish it or seek it out suggested it was not the most exceptional cat food by his standards.

Nutrition

The Velvet Mousse Chicken With Egg is very nutritious for cats and it has nothing noticeably bad in it. Considering that the primary ingredients are chicken, chicken broth, and dried egg the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken With Egg Cat Food has quality ingredients enough to justify the price.

Hard cat food has clear dental benefits that the Velvet Mousse Chicken With Egg does not have. When the cats chew (to split into bite-sized pieces) their hard cat food, it scrapes plaque and tartar off their teeth. There is no such physical operation going on with this cat food.

Overview

Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken With Egg is a mediocre wet cat food that only one of my cats kind of liked, which made it impossible to recommend.

Happy Second Birthday Evie! It Turns Out She Likes Tiki Cat Tuna & Chicken Velvet Mousse!

The Good: Wonderful ingredients, Good nutrition, Even Evie likes it!
The Bad: Very expensive, No dental benefits
The Basics: Even Evie was willing to try the Tiki Cat Tuna & Chicken Pate cat food and the other two cats like it . . . a lot more than my wallet does!

Today is Evie, my tiny calico cat's, second birthday. After all these years, Halloween is something fun and celebratory for me again and today, I've tried to spend some extra time with my little girl. In an uncharacteristic move (given how little she actually enjoys wet cat food), I decided to give Evie a little wet food for her birthday. The pleasant surprise of the day was that Evie actually ate some of the Tiki Cat Tuna & Chicken Velvet Mousse and seemed to enjoy it, which was nice! While the Tiki Cat Tuna & Chicken Velvet Mousse is a bit expensive and does not have any real dental benefits for cats, the fact that all three of my cats actually will eat it is a big plus in the food's favor!

Basics

Tiki Cat Tuna & Chicken Velvet Mousse comes in a plastic 2.8 oz. single serve pouch, which is not resealable. Supposedly, all three of my cats for their weights and ages should eat one and a half pouches per day! Even on sale, that would be far too expensive for us to feed them this mousse that much each day. Ease Of Preparation

The Tuna & Chicken Velvet Mousse opens up easily enough in the 2.8 oz. plastic pouch. The small plastic pouch as a top that easily pulls off. Opening the pouch reveals the food inside. Velvet Mousse Tuna & Chicken looks like pureed salmon or tuna, though it is pink and does not have fishy chunks in it. This cat food may be dispensed into a cat's food dish by squeezing the food out of the pouch or spooning it out.

Evie, Elim And Timber’s Reactions

The Tiki Cat Tuna & Chicken Velvet Mousse smells strongly fishy. The aroma from this mousse is fresh and realistic, completely embodying the promised tuna!

Elim and Timber both went pretty rapidly for the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Tuna & Chicken Cat Food. They not only tried this mousse, but they eagerly came back for it time and again. The real surprise of the Tiki Cat Tuna & Chicken Velvet Mousse was that Evie - who has almost always rejected wet cat foods - gave this a try and did not abandon it after her first taste. In fact, this might be the first wet food that Evie has favorably responded to and actually consumed as opposed to sniffed and avoided! All three of the cats had very fishy breath after tasting this cat food!

Nutrition

The Velvet Mousse Tuna & Chicken is very nutritious for cats and it has nothing noticeably bad in it. Considering that the primary ingredients are tuna broth, tuna and chicken, the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Tuna & Chicken Cat Food has quality ingredients enough to justify the price. According to the guaranteed analysis on the pouch, there is a minimum of 13% crude protein and 2% crude fat and no more than 1% crude fiber, 2% ash, and 80% moisture. When the cats chew (to split into bite-sized pieces) their hard cat food, it scrapes plaque and tartar off their teeth. There is no such physical operation going on with this cat food.

Overview

Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Tuna & Chicken is enjoyed by my cats, but not in an exceptional way that benefits their teeth or my wallet, making it a more average than incredible cat food.

A Cat Food The Cats Love Like A Treat: Friskies Gravy Swirlers Chicken & Salmon

The Good: All three cats truly love this food, Comparatively expensive, Dental benefits
The Bad: Not the most impressive ingredients/nutrition
The Basics: Friskies Gravy Swirlers Chicken And Salmon flavor cat food has quickly become a beloved cat food for all three of my cats!

Every now and then, I encounter a cat food that my cats actually prefer to eat as if it was a cat treat. Under those circumstances, I tend to look for a cat food that is crunchy so it aids in cleaning my cats' teeth. When I sat down to review Friskies Gravy Swirlers Chicken & Salmon cat food, the only thing more surprising to me than the fact that Timber, Elim and Evie all enjoy this cat food as if it were a treat, was the fact that up until now, I had not reviewed any Friskies hard cat foods. Friskies Gravy Swirlers Chicken & Salmon cat food has quickly become one of my little trio's favorite cat foods.

Basics

Friskies Gravy Swirlers Chicken And Salmon flavor cat food are crunchy little food that come in a 3.5 pound bag and bring all three of our cats running when the bag is shaken. The Gravy Swirlers includes three different piece types that range in size from 5/16” wide and 5/8" long (for the fish-shaped pieces) to 3/8” in diameter for the gravy pieces. All are approximately 3/16” thick. There is a medium-sized chicken leg-shaped piece in this food. Opening the Friskies Gravy Swirlers bag, there is a fairly strong scent akin to that of brown gravy. There is nothing fishy in the bouquet of this cat food.

Ease Of Preparation

The Friskies Gravy Swirlers food is a ready-to-eat cat food, so preparation is as easy as opening the bag and measuring out the food. I never have to mix in treats with this when Evie, Timber and Elim eat it, as they gobble it up like it was a treat. All three of my cats will protectively consume this food.

Evie, Elim And Timber’s Reaction

Friskies Gravy Swirlers Chicken And Salmon flavor food are consistently and eagerly eaten up by all three of our cats. None of our cats rejected the Friskies Gravy Swirlers Chicken And Salmon flavored cat food, no matter how many days in a row they were fed this food. This is one food that all three of our cats eagerly devour each and every time they are given it.

Nutrition

The package recommends 1/2 - 3/4 cups of food per day for Evie and Elim, 3/4 - a cup of food for our beautifully fat cat Timber. All three of our cats will gladly eat the full serving of this each day.

The Friskies Gravy Swirlers Chicken And Salmon flavor food is healthy-enough, though it is not the most healthy or the cat food with the best ingredients that we have given our little trio. With a minimum of 30% crude protein and 12% crude fat, but no more than 3% crude fiber and 12% moisture, this food has decent nutritional benefits for our two growing cats and our senior, Timber. These food are made primarily of ground yellow corn, corn gluten meal, and chicken by-product meal, this is not the best cat food by the ingredients! Despite that, each piece is big enough and hard enough that cats are forced to chew them, which helps them to keep their teeth clean and breath (comparatively) fresh.

Overview

The Friskies Gravy Swirlers Chicken And Salmon flavor cat food is quite good and, despite the ingredients not being the most spectacular, all three of my cats are ecstatic to be fed it.

Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping Cat Litter Works!

The Good: Absorbs odors, Excellent clumping, Cats use it consistently, Decent aroma
The Bad: Not flushable
The Basics: Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping cat litter works wonderfully to do all that is promises for a decent price!

One of the dangers of reviewing a lot of very different products and experiencing many different things as a person of limited means is that occasionally, I run into territory where I might end up sounding like a cheap infomercial. When it comes to cat litter, I tend to go toward inexpensive, but after stocking up on a discount brand litter that did not clump at all, I saw the merit of using a brand name clumping cat litter. Yeah, it might sound like a crappy infomercial, but the truth is that Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping Cat Litter turned me around on the differences between cat litters that were inexpensive and ones that were cheap.

Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping Cat Litter is a great example of how a well-made product with a marginally higher initial expense to it may result in saving money in the long-term. Use of the Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping cat litter resulted in far less waste than using cheaper litters that had no real clumping ability to them.

The Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping look like little a standard clay cat litter. Each piece of litter is a little gray granule of litter that is approximately 1/16” in diameter. There are little blue granules mixed in with the gray clay litter pieces and there is a fair amount of litter dust in the cat litter.

If changing a cat's entire litterbox, one 8.5 lb. jug will fill an average litterbox to about 2 1/2" deep. When first filling a litterbox, the Tidy Cat Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping cat litter emits a clean, soapy smell. The aroma seems to be more than enough to quickly overcome any scent from cat waste and when the litter box is first filled, it makes the room the litterbox is in smell soapy and clean. The Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping Cat Litter's aroma fades after about half an hour after the litter is dispensed from the jug or bucket it comes in.

When your cat uses the litterbox, the Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping cat litter clumps within seconds. I have been able, in the past, to sift the litter almost immediately after Elim uses the box (he has a habit of coming in while I am cleaning out the litterboxes and showing me just how good he is at using the box, necessitating further scooping!). The clay binds to the urine within seconds and it clumps well-enough that a litter scoop can easily be shaken to sift out the remaining litter. Whenever our three cats bury their litter, the blob of clay remains solid. What impressed me was that each time the cats buried their urine-soaked litter clump, the Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping Cat Litter emitted a new burst of soap scent.

Equally impressive is how the Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping cat litter worked when it came to Evie, Elim and Timber pooping in the litterbox. Even when the cats poop - and Timber has had bouts with terrible-smelling feces - the moment they bury it, the scent of poop is sublimated by the Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping Cat Litter. The result is that no matter how bad the poop might smell, the Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping Cat Litter effectively eliminates its odor.

What drives the Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping Cat Litter down a bit is that it is not a flushable litter. While the Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping Cat Litter clumps incredibly well, it cannot be flushed, lest it clog up one's plumbing.

Despite that, the Tidy Cats Lightweight 4-in-1 Strength Clumping Cat Litter does what it promises and it is more than enough to truly lock up the bad aromas of cat waste and clump in a way that allows one to get the most out of the litter without wasting the product. That makes it a pretty remarkable cat litter that does all it promises!

Indifference Undermines Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food

The Good: Nutritious, Good dental benefits, Good ingredients
The Bad: My cats were not at all excited by it, Expensive
The Basics: Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food is a well-made cat food that none of my cats showed any particular preference for, making it hard to justify the price.

Lately, my cats have been my (metaphorical) guinea pigs for my reviews. Whatever cat food is at my local discount store in a decent quantity, I tend to stock up on for them and I then get their opinions for my reviews. Every now and then, the store has a lone bag and I need something for my cats and then another shipment comes in of the same cat food; under those circumstances, the best endorsement or critique I might be able to give is whether or not - when the second shipment came in - I stocked up for my cats. With the Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food, I did not.

One bag of Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food was so neutrally-received by my three cats that I could not justify spending any more money on the product when quite a bit more came into even my local discount store.

Basics

Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food is a cat food formulated for adult cats. The Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food regularly comes in a two pound heavy plastic bag that is resealable and our discount store had a couple of bags on sale for $3.99, which is well below what most people will pay for the same size bag! As someone who cannot generally afford such things, the fact that my cats are at all enthusiastic about the Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food made it very frustrating that it would usually cost quite a bit more.

The Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food comes in hard pieces are surprisingly homogeneous 3/8" in diameter balls. The little brown balls of Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food require cats to chew them and that does give them a dental benefit, which is nice.

Ease Of Preparation

Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food is a hard cat food that comes in a small bag, so preparation only involves opening the bag and measuring out the proper serving size for your cat, as determined by its weight. Timber, Evie and Elim get between 1/2 and 2/3 of a cup of the Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food each per day (as they are now all between 7 and ten pounds . . . well, we're trying to get Timber back down in that range as he becomes a little less active . . .). When properly fed those servings, only Timber actually finishes their food in a day when exclusively fed Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food.

Elim, Evie And Timber’s Reactions

The Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food smells strongly of fish. The fishy scent to the cat food seems like it would be a big draw for three adult cats . . .

. . . but it was not.

Timber, Elim, and Evie each ate the Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food, but none of them came rushing for it. Not one of the cats reacted to the bag being opened or the food being poured into their bowls after their first taste. All three cats will eat the Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food, when it is the only option, when they are hungry, but none of them actively seek it out or show any enthusiasm for it when they are anything but truly hungry (and Timber has been known to gorge himself on foods he likes!).

Nutrition

The Grain Free Adult Beyond Cat Food is a very nutritious cat food. The guaranteed analysis of it indicates that it has a minimum of 45% crude protein and 18% crude fat. With no more than 3% crude fiber and 11% moisture, this is a food that is very balanced and nutritious for adult cats. This food also has notable amounts of Taurine (at least .2%), Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fatty Acids, Phosphorus, and Vitamin E. Always have adequate water near your cat’s feeding area!

As well, those who are concerned about what goes into their pets will be pleased by how good and natural the ingredients in the food are. The main ingredients are deboned turkey, deboned chicken, and chicken meal.

Overview

Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food is adequate and nutritious, but none of my cats are so thrilled by it that its (full) price can be justified. For a premium cat food, I expect even one of my cats to consistently come running; Wellness CORE Grain Free Adult Cat Food did not excite any of them enough to justify spending money on a second bag.

Sometimes, The Best Things Are The Most Simple: Friskies Party Mix Original Chicken, Liver & Turkey Cat Treats Thrill All Three Of Our Cats!

The Good: All three cats truly love them, Inexpensive, Dental benefits
The Bad: Nothing!
The Basics: A perfect treat for all our cats, Friskies Party Mix Original Chicken, Liver & Turkey flavor treats delight my cats for a very reasonable price!

My wife is pretty incredible with training our cats. I have been quite surprised by how successful she has been with getting our three cats to learn new tricks. One trick in particular amuses me quite a bit; my wife can bring out a treat, call the cats, tell them "butts on the floor" and all three will sit with their butts on the floor and wait without competing for her to dispense treats. This is particularly impressive to me because our orange cat, Elim, is particularly willful and Evie is barely more than a kitten. Because she has been so successful at teaching all three cats the trick, we are able to very clearly see what treats intrigue each cat by how each one responds to the same treats. So, when I write that Friskies Party Mix Original Chicken, Liver & Turkey flavor treats are universally beloved, it is because all three of our cats consistently responded to them over and over again.

This might be one of the best, inexpensive, cat treats we've yet found!

Basics

Friskies Party Mix Original Chicken, Liver & Turkey flavor cat treats are crunchy little treats that come in a 6 oz. bag and bring all three of our cats running when the bag is shaken. The Party mix Original includes four different piece types that range in size from 5/16” wide and 1/2" long (for the crunch twists) to 1/2” square for the star bites. All are approximately 3/16” thick. The other two shapes are little fish and little window-shaped treats. Opening the Friskies Party Mix bag, which is resealable, there is a generally meaty aroma; surprisingly, they smell most like liver.

Ease Of Preparation

The Friskies Party Mix treats are a treat, so preparation is as easy as opening the resealable bag and removing a few of treats. I, occasionally, mix a few of the treats in with Evie, Timber and Elim’s food, but otherwise, they get five to ten of these whenever my wife or I gets them to perform the sitting trick! Intriguingly, all three of the cats will consume their own piles of these treats without trying to steal them from one another, which is a rare thing for them (Elim, especially, likes to steal treats from his siblings).

Evie, Elim And Timber’s Reaction

Friskies Party Mix Original Chicken, Liver & Turkey flavor treats are consistently and eagerly eaten up by all three of our cats. None of our cats rejected the Friskies Party Mix Original Chicken, Liver & Turkey flavored cat treats, no matter how mant days in a row they were fed them. This is one treat that all three of our cats eagerly devour each and every time they are given them.

Nutrition

The package recommends two treats per pound of cat, but not more than ten per day. All three of our cats will gladly eat ten of these treats each day, if given the opportunity.

The Friskies Party Mix Original Chicken, Liver & Turkey flavor treats seem fairly healthy. With a minimum of 30% crude protein and 15% crude fat, but no more than 4% crude fiber and 8% moisture, these treats have decent nutritional benefits for our two growing cats and our senior, Timber. These treats are made primarily of chicken by-product meal, brewers rice, and animal fat with preservatives! They are just big enough and hard enough that cats are forced to chew them, which helps them to keep their teeth clean and breath (comparatively) fresh.

Overview

The Friskies Party Mix Original Chicken, Liver & Turkey flavor cat treats are perfect because for a very inexpensive price, they engage three out of three cats in my household and help to keep their teeth clean.

We Just Can't Get Our Cats To Play With Their Food: Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp Cat Treats!

The Good: The cats had fun playing with them, Enticing aroma
The Bad: None of the cats were inclined to eat them, Comparatively messy clean-up
The Basics: Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp flavors treats fail to entice any of my cats into eating them . . . though they do enjoy these as a cat toy!

My title for this review is not entirely accurate. My wife and I have three cats and yesterday, I picked them up a package of Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp Flavors Cat Treats. All three of our cats play with the Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp Cat Treats and they do so with a level of eagerness that shows they do generally enjoy them. The cats play with the Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp Flavors Cat Treats as if they are playing with mice tails; they truly seem to enjoy that aspect of them. But we can't get even one of our cats to actually eat these cat treats. That makes the dual function of the Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp treats a much, much tougher sell than they ought to be.

Basics

Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp flavor cat treats are long, stringy treats that come in a 2 oz. package. We found ours at the local discount store for $1.49 per pack and that seemed to be about a fair price for them; I would not want to pay more. The Pull 'N Play are like Twizlers for cats, long and thin and twisted like a rope. The 2 oz. pack comes with 18 strands in two intertwined "ropes." Each strand treat measures 8" in length and 3/16" in diameter. The soft, pink strands are flexible enough to be separated and maintain integrity and hard enough to be durable for at least an hour's worth of play by three cats!

Ease Of Preparation

The Friskies Pull 'N Play treats are a treat and a toy, so preparation is as easy as opening the bag, removing one of the two ropes and carefully untwisting a strand from it. After that, simply wiggle the Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp Cat Treats around cats and they are supposed to feel the urge to hunt them.

Evie, Timber And Elim’s Reaction

Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp flavors cat treats smell incredibly good to cats. The fishy smell that comes whenever we unwrap the package to get out more brings our cats running. Evie, Timber and Elim each came running into the room when we first opened these treats and they kept coming back whenever the strands are out and being prepared for play.

All three of our cats enjoyed playing with the Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp Flavors Cat Treats. Evie illustrated for the first time a real hunting instinct when the Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp Cat Treats were brought out and Elim and Timber had a lot of fun batting them around and chasing after them. Only Timber put any of the Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp Cat Treats in his mouth. While he did not consume even a little bit of the treats, he cut apart one of the strands with his teeth (I re-assembled the ones he did this to and, alas, he did not eat any of them!). The other two cats showed no inkling to even try to consume them.

Nutrition

The package does not provide a serving recommendation, but given that none of the cats even attempt to eat the Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp Cat Treats, there does not seem to be a very good serving recommendation.

If only the cats would try eating them, they would find the Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp flavor treats to be pretty healthy. With a minimum of 13.0% crude protein and 3% crude fat, but no more than 2% crude fiber and 14% moisture, these treats have some (potential) nutritional benefits for our cats. These treats are made primarily of rice, wheat gluten and glycerine. These treats have no real dental benefits to them and they are not really all-natural or anything.

The Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp that cats break up leave a bit of extra clean-up compared to other cat toys or cat treats.

Overview

The Friskies Pull 'N Play Salmon & Shrimp flavors cat treats are a decent toy, but an entirely underwhelming treat for cats.

Everything But Durable, Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand Inexpensively Entertains Cats!

The Good: Very inexpensive, All three of my cats love playing with it, Easy to use
The Bad: Not very durable
The Basics: The Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand Cat Toy keeps Timber, Elim and Evie engaged and exercizing each day . . . until they destroy the wand!

My cats get a lot of awesome toys, especially now that my local discount store stocks a pretty vast number of inexpensive cat toys. Nothing quite proves that price does not necessarily make the best cat products like the Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand. The Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand is a very inexpensive (we get ours for only $1.00 each) cat toy and it is nice that even when the cats inevitably destroy it, it is not cost-prohibitive to replace. And, considering that each Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand tends to last about a month with playing with three cats, the inexpensive cat toy is not at all prohibitive to stock up on!

The Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand Cat Toy is a toy designed to allow cats to play with their owners and it offers decent bonding time. The Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand Cat Toy is a flexible plastic stick with a fabric tail attached to it. The Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand Cat Toy is the 19" long plastic stick with a 13" long feltlike fabric piece that resembles an overthick mouse tail. The fabric piece comes in many different colors - green, magenta, and teal, at least - and our cats do not show any preference based upon the fabric color.

Playing with the Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand Cat Toy is exceptionally easy. A human needs only to hold the plastic wand, like a magic wand, and dangle the fabric piece in front of the cat one wishes to play with. Cats attempt to catch the wiggling fabric piece and the human can flick the wand in order to keep the cat from actually grabbing the fabric piece.

All three of the cats we have love playing with the Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand. Timber (older, fatter cat) and Evie (just over a year old) actively chase the Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand whenever we bring one out. Elim, our middle orange cat, grabs at the fabric portion of the Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand and plays with it fabric whenever it is within range of his paws. That is more playing than he does with most cat toys!

What the Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand does not have is durability. A fast-moving cat or a heavy cat resisting a person pulling the wand back can separate the fabric from the plastic wand. The fabric is basically connected to the wand by hot glue and when it cracks apart, the two pieces separate and there is no real good way to reconnect the two pieces.

When cats get the Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand dirty - either by dragging the fabric piece through something unclean (don't play near wet cat food!) or because they have unclean paws for whatever reason - the fabric piece is exceptionally easy to clean. The fabric can easily be washed off or washed and soaked and then dried over a day or two.

Despite the lack of durability, the Great Lakes Wholesale Cat Teaser Wand Cat Toy is a great toy to help cats and their human companions bond with close play!

All Three Cats Enjoy Nutro Indoor Adult Cat Food!

The Good: Nutritious, Good dental benefits, All three cats seem to like it quite a bit!
The Bad: Comparatively expensive.
The Basics: All three of my cats seem to enjoy Nutro Indoor Adult White Fish & Whole Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food, even when they are offered wet cat food!

Despite the very recent death of my beautiful Siberian Husky, my wife and I work very hard to give our three cats a lot of love and attention. We feed Timber, Elim and Evie really good foods and we try to shake up their diet to keep giving them new foods to fall in love with, so they never get bored of it. Our latest food that our three cats have had and truly fell in love with is Nutro Indoor Adult White Fish & Whole Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food.

After two months of feeding my cats the Nutro Indoor Adult Cat Food, it is pretty clear that all three of my cats would be okay with never shaking up their diet again. And, outside the expense of the Nutro Indoor Adult White Fish & Whole Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food, I would probably be happy with keeping them on this food!

Basics

Nutro Indoor Adult Cat Food is a cat food formulated for adult cats. The Nutro Indoor Adult Cat Food regularly comes in a three pound heavy plastic bag that is resealable with a simple plastic seal at the top. I lucked out and found the bags of Nutro Indoor Adult White Fish & Whole Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food we have been feeding our cats at our awesome local discount store, so I am used to getting this cat food more affordably than most.

The Nutro Indoor Adult Cat Food comes in hard pieces are basically like overlarge pieces of rice made of actual cat food. Each piece is 1/2" long, 3/8" wide and 1/4" thick. These little pieces are hard, brown and much larger than actual rice. All three of our cats have to chew the cat food to swallow it.

Ease Of Preparation

Nutro Indoor Adult White Fish & Whole Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food is a hard cat food that comes in a small bag, so preparation only involves opening the bag and measuring out the proper serving size for your cat, as determined by its weight. Timber and Elim get about 2/3 of a cup of the Nutro Indoor Adult Cat Food per day (as they are both about twelve pounds each) and Evie gets a 1/2 cup serving. When properly fed those servings, all three of our cats eagerly consume Nutro Indoor Adult Cat Food exclusively.

Elim, Evie And Timber’s Reactions

The Nutro Indoor Adult White Fish & Whole Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food smells very mealy. Ironically, for a cat food that has two primary ingredients that are meaty, there is nothing remotely meaty in the aroma from this.

Each time my cats were fed Nutro Indoor Adult Cat Food, the lack of a smell did not appear to upset them. Timber, Elim and Evie all come running when they hear this hard cat food hitting their dishes. All three of the cats eagerly eat whatever amount of Nutro Indoor Adult White Fish & Whole Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food that is put in front of them. They truly seem to love this food and they seldom leave anything in their dishes.

All three of our cats will eat the Nutro Indoor Adult Cat Food even when there are other foods available to them, which is not their usual thing.

Nutrition

The Indoor Adult Beyond Cat Food is a very nutritious cat food. The guaranteed analysis of it indicates that it has a minimum of 33% crude protein and 14% crude fat. With no more than 7% crude fiber and 10% moisture, this is a food that is balanced. This food also has notable amounts of Taurine (at least .18%), Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fatty Acids, and Vitamin C. Always have adequate water near your cat’s feeding area!

As well, those who are concerned about what goes into their pets will be pleased by how this is a mostly natural cat food this is, despite the bulk of the ingredients being added vitamins and minerals. The main ingredients are white fish, chicken meal, and brewers rice.

Overview

Our three cats have come to a consensus: they love Nutro Indoor Adult White Fish & Whole Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food!

Our Two Cats Who Like Soft Food Love Friskies Classic Pate Turkey & Giblets Dinner Cat Food!

The Good: Cats seem to enjoy it, Fairly good ingredients, Does not smell bad
The Bad: Does not entice our kitten, Comparatively expensive.
The Basics: Friskies Turkey & Giblets Dinner Pate cat food is enough to delight two of my three cats!

Over the years, my cats have become more and more acclimated to wet cat food. Wet cat food was not something that I used to get; it was usually so expensive compared to the dry cat food and I've long lived on a budget. But, as the price has come down and my cat Elim has had special needs that require him to eat wet cat food in order to maintain his weight and get him up to a healthy weight, I have bought more and more wet cat food. One of the new staples around my home has been the Friskies Classic Pate Turkey & Giblets Dinner Cat Food. The Turkey & Giblets Dinner Pate is a cat food that both Elim and Timber seem to enjoy, even if our newer cat, Evie, does not go for it.

Basics

Friskies Turkey & Giblets Dinner Classic Pate comes in a metal 5.5 oz. single serve container. Supposedly, Elim for his weight and age should eat two of these containers per day! Even on sale, that would be a pricey endeavor, though $1/day might not seem pricey, it adds up compared to dry cat food that Elim and Timber are used to. Ironically, the directions state that kittens might need twice as much of a serving, but Evie (our one and a half year old) cannot be enticed into eating even a little of the Friskies Classic Pate Turkey & Giblets Dinner Cat Food.

Ease Of Preparation

The Turkey & Giblets Dinner Classic Pate opens up easily enough in the 5.5 oz. metal container. The small metal container has a thin aluminum lid that easily pulls off. Opening the container reveals the food inside. Classic Pate Turkey & Giblets Dinner looks like a lump of ground beef, dark brown with a fatty gravy around the edges. This cat food may be dispensed into a cat's food dish by either smacking it against the bottom of the dish or spooning the contents out into the dish. Alternatively, this wet cat food may be eaten right out of the can, though the metal edges are sharp and that method is not recommended for cats.

Elim And Timber’s Reactions

The Friskies Turkey & Giblets Dinner Classic Pate smells generically meaty, not specifically like turkey. Despite that, Elim and Timber both go for the Friskies Classic Pate Turkey & Giblets Dinner Cat Food pretty much the moment I open a can. When I plate it, both cats will stand around the plate to eat it until the other is done. The cats both seem to love the Friskies Classic Pate Turkey & Giblets Dinner Cat Food and will eat it whenever it is out and they are hungry!

The Friskies Classic Pate Turkey & Giblets Dinner Cat Food does not leave either cat with any sort of smell on their breath.

Nutrition

The Classic Pate Turkey & Giblets Dinner is very nutritious for cats and it has nothing noticeably bad in it. Considering that the primary ingredients are meat by-products, water sufficient for processing, and turkey, the Friskies Classic Pate Turkey & Giblets Dinner Cat Food seems pretty good. According to the guaranteed analysis on the container, there is a minimum of 10% crude protein and 5% crude fat and no more than 1% crude fiber, 3% ash, and 78% moisture. This is food appears to be wheat-free and it most definitely requires refrigeration after it is open!

I cannot afford to give Elim and Timber this regularly, though Elim gets it quite often - especially since our local discount store started stocking it pretty regularly. Hard cat food has clear dental benefits that the Classic Pate Turkey & Giblets Dinner does not have. When the cats chew (to split into bite-sized pieces) their hard cat food, it scrapes plaque and tartar off their teeth. There is no such physical operation going on with this cat food.

Overview

Friskies Classic Pate Turkey & Giblets Dinner appears to be loved by two out of my three cats, which makes it well worth giving to most cats!
