The Good: Good accessories, Good balance, Generally good sculpt and coloring
The Bad: Lack of articulation, Collectible value is terrible
The Basics: The Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty Power Of The Force action figure provides Chewbacca fans with one of the few variants on the Wookie that there can be and it still stands tall in one’s Star Wars collection today!
The Power Of The Force Star Wars toy line had very few enduring winners, figures that fans of the Star Wars franchise absolutely must buy in order to complete their collections. The Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty figure is not one of those absolutely essential action figures, but it is still a pretty cool one that is worthwhile as a support figure. After all, even with my legitimate issues with the figure, for a figure representing a captured Chewbacca, not much is needed in terms of articulation!
Chewbacca appeared as Boushh’s Bounty in Return Of The Jedi (reviewed here!). To infiltrate Jabba’s Palace, Boushh brought Chewbacca in chains to Jabba The Hutt.
The 4" Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty figure is a decent one that stands up well. For a cool basic Chewie that at least has the right proportions, this figure fits the bill.
Basics
Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty is the famed Wookie cast in a thinner, more proportionally correct version of the hero than the first Power Of The Force Chewbacca was. The Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty figure has legs cast close together for decent stability and suffers from low articulation. The figure stands 4 1/4" tall to the top of his head. The Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty is characteristically wearing only his fur and bandoleer, which is molded into the figure. The figure is made entirely of hard plastic, except the chain around his neck which is made of a softer plastic.
This toy is a pretty awesome sculpt, looking very much like the Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty. He looks mostly like he does in the movie and the chain around his neck is a nice touch. The Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty features more accurate proportions for Chewbacca than the first Power Of The Force figure and as a result stands tall and thin. This figure is also more complicated in its coloring, featuring patches of lighter fur and more of a sense of shading than the monotonal first release Chewbacca. He is molded so only his right hand may hold an accessory. His eyes are little more than white spots with black dots in them.
Accessories
Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty, elaborate pawn in a plan to rescue Han Solo that he is, comes only with one accessory, his bowcaster. The weapon that appears uniquely for Chewbacca is cast in a monotonal gunmetal plastic. It is 2 1/4” long and 1 7/16” wide and looks proportional to the rest of the figure. The thick grip of the gun fits only in Chewbacca’s right hand and is unlikely to fit any other figure. Unfortunately, because of the figure’s low articulation, there is no way to get the figure to hold the bowcaster in a two-handed grip.
Playability
The four inch toy line was designed for play and the Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty is fair in that regard. The figure is poorly articulated and lacks significant articulation to make it interesting with his bowcaster. This is a figure designed to stand and look docile, which is does. The Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty has awesome balance. This figure cannot spread its legs out of flatfooted position and still stand, though. Like virtually every other Star Wars figure, though, he has the standard holes in the feet that allow this figure to be posed in more outlandish poses on the playsets and toys that have the matching foot pegs!
The Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty is low on articulation. The figure has six points of articulation, all of which are simple swivel joints: shoulders, groin socket, neck and waist. The head articulation is very limited because of the hair and the chain around his neck.
Collectibility
The Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty is part of the Power Of The Force four-inch series, a series of Star Wars action figures that was incredibly common. The Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty was not as overproduced as many of the others in the line and he only appeared with the Freeze Frame action slide so that encouraged fans to buy the figure up. While the figure was later recast, that was not necessarily a better sculpt. This was still a pretty unworthwhile investment figure.
Overview
The Chewbacca as Boushh’s Bounty figure from the Power Of The Force collection is a decent support figure for your Rebel characters or a large background display. Because it may often be found inexpensively, it is easy to recommend this figure!
