The Good: Good flavor, impressive with creamer, Wonderful aroma!
The Bad: Comparatively expensive, Needs creamer to reach its full potential.
The Basics: Dunkin’ Donuts Bakery Series Blueberry Pancake coffee is spot on for aroma, good on taste, but reaches its full potential with creamer!
The last few weeks have been pretty intensive for me with home brewing Dunkin' Donuts coffee. The final one in my recent odyssey is Blueberry Pancake Coffee and the truth is, I had incredibly low expectations for it. The truth is, most of the Dunkin' Donuts coffees that are supposed to be fruit flavored have not lived up for me. Blueberry Pancake Coffee is one of the exceptions to that rule!
The Blueberry Pancake Bakery Series coffee is almost enough to keep me from ever going to a Dunkin' Donuts (reviewed here!) coffee shop again! This is a very flavorful coffee that makes for a good home brew.
Basics
Dunkin' Donuts Coffee has several different flavors and I found the bag of ground Blueberry Pancake flavor coffee at my local grocery store as one of their new Bakery Series releases. The Blueberry Pancake flavored Dunkin' Donuts Coffee comes ground in a foil bag and the 11 oz. package we found was new for $8.50, which was much more expensive compared to comparable flavored coffees. The bright orange bag is easy enough to open and the eleven ounce standard package is resealable, thanks to a flat tie on the top of the bag.
Ease Of Preparation
Dunkin' Donuts Coffee is easy-enough to prepare. Two oz. of the Blueberry Pancake Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee brews up with 48 oz. of water to make a full pot of coffee. We brewed up our full pot in our Hamilton Beach coffee maker (reviewed here!) and it came out potent and aromatic. The Blueberry Pancake coffee comes pre-ground and smells very realistically of the promised blueberry pancake flavor. This coffee is easy enough to scoop out and into a filter.
Taste
The Blueberry Pancake coffee smells delightfully fruity. The aroma is the perfect blend of blueberries and a deep, rich, coffee scent. The scent of the Blueberry Pancake Coffee is very inviting and entirely reminiscent of fresh baked blueberry pancakes!
In the mouth, the Blueberry Pancake Coffee is fruity and then strongly coffee flavored. The fruit element is sour and sweet, just like real blueberries. The coffee flavor quickly overwhelms the fruit element to the flavor, but not in a way that is unpleasant, especially for those who love coffee.
With creamer, the Blueberry Pancake Coffee perfectly embodies the promised flavor of both blueberries, something baked, and coffee. The creamer seems to mute the sourness of the blueberry flavor and the net result is that it actually tastes quite a bit like a pancake or something else baked. The blueberry pancake flavor meshes well then with the coffee flavor, which creamer seems to mute the bitterness of!
There is a slightly sweet aftertaste to the Blueberry Pancake Coffee, but it is not at all unpleasant or enduring.
Nutrition
The ingredients to the Blueberry Pancake coffee are simple: coffee, natural and artificial flavors.
In terms of nutrition, this coffee lacks any. One 8 oz. mug of this coffee provides nothing of nutritional value to the drinker. There are no calories (save what one adds from sugar or creamer), no fat, sodium, or protein. There is caffeine, however, but it is not overly strong.
Storage/Clean-up
Dunkin' Donuts Bakery Series Coffee is very easy to clean up after - the coffee grounds may be disposed in the garbage, or composted if you have a good garden and/or compost pile. The coffee itself is a fairly dark coffee and it will stain delicate fabrics, so if it spills, it ought to be cleaned right off things like tablecloths or light cottons.
Dunkin’ Donuts does not make a recommendation on refrigerating the bag, but ours remained just fine out of the refrigerator. This flavor maintains its freshness well.
Overall
Dunkin’ Donuts Blueberry Pancake coffee is pretty much what one would hope for from the coffee, though not so much on its own.
