Pricy (Devoured Quickly): Myah Endorses Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free Dog Food When My Bank Account Won’t!

The Good: Very nutritious, Myah mows down on it!
The Bad: Comparatively expensive.
The Basics: Myah, ever thrilled by something new, kept returning and returning to Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food, which was tough on my bank account!

My Siberian Husky, Myah, loves variety. In fact, she enjoys changes to her food and treats so much that while it might seem like she would be the ideal dog for a pet product reviewer like myself, it hally caused me to have to re-evaluate my standards for some products. Myah no longer reviews products based on the first taste; I see how she deals with the treats and (especially) dog foods over several feedings, usually withholding reviews for weeks after she started on a new (to us) product. Sometimes, that can be a costly thing, as it is with the Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food. Myah has been eating Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food for over a month now and she absolutely loves it, but as one of the most expensive dog foods we have yet tried, this becomes a huge detraction for a thrifty pet owner, like myself!

That said, in Myah’s world where money is no object, Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food is astoundingly good and is made up of quality ingredients.

Basics

A single serving of Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food is two and a half cups for a big dog like Myah and she is supposed to get one such serving per day, so a twenty-eight pound bag barely lasted a month, which is tough to justify spending more than $90 on! Each piece of Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food is a brown almost-cube (with rounded edges) that is very hard. They are 3/8" long and wide and 1/4” thick.

Ease Of Preparation

As a dry dog food, preparation of Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food is as easy as opening a bag and measuring out the pellets inside. There is no further prep needed.

Myah’s Reaction

The Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free actually smells surprisingly grainy for a grain free dog food. I was shocked because other grain-free dog foods Myah has tried have smelled distinctly meaty. The Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food smelled wheaty, with no hint of meat to its bouquet.

Regardless of the weaker-than-expected smell, Myah was thrilled by the Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food. Something about the way it falls into her metal bowls made her run for her dishes each and every time. Initially, I was concerned because our youngest cat, Timber, became curious one of the times I poured Myah a bowl while she was sleeping, but Myah bolted awake upon hearing the food hitting her dish (it’s not like she hadn’t eaten eight hours prior!) and Myah shoved her little brother out of the way to get to it. The cats getting into Myah’s food has never been an issue because Myah literally comes running for Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food.

Rather nicely, after eating this food, Myah’s breath does not carry any sort of meaty (or other) odor, so the hardness of the food works to actually keep her mouth somewhat clean, it seems.

Nutrition

Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food is made primarily of high-protein chicken meal, low ash pork meal, and spring peas. The ingredients are mostly natural, though after “cranberries,” the ingredients list turns into an unfortunate and scary list of vitamins, chemicals and minerals that only a chemist could truly appreciate. According to the guaranteed analysis, Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food has at least 30% crude protein, 15% crude fat, but no more than 4% crude fiber and 10% moisture. As a dry dog food, it is highly recommended that you have adequate water available for your dog when serving it Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food. Myah frequently drinks quite a bit with this food.

Overall

Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food is exceptional from the dog’s perspective and as a dog owner, I’m thrilled that such a high-quality product exists that Myah loves. However, the premium brand is just that and it is very hard to justify spending so much on our dog, regardless of how much we love her and how much she loves Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Grain Free dog food.
