The Basics: Gollum genuinely enjoys Purina Cat Chow Healthy Weight Cat Food catfood and it is one of the more affordable cat foods he has tried recently.


Since we moved to Michigan, Gollum has gone between gaining and losing weight. He has been infrequently active, but when he is active he really tears around the house. The last few weeks, though, he has been a little more sedentary. So, when Purina Cat Chow produced a Healthy Weight cat food, it seemed sensible that we would pick some up for him. And it works.

Basics

Purina Cat Chow Healthy Weight Cat Food is a cat food formulated for adult cats. The Purina Cat Chow Healthy Weight Cat Food catfood regularly comes in a six point three pound reinforced paper bag that is priced online at $13 and in many brick and mortar stores for around the same price. As a cheapskate and poor person, this is one of the more affordable cat foods with meat by-products near the top of the ingredient list as opposed to corn or other vegetable meals.

The Purina Cat Chow Healthy Weight Cat Food food comes with four different pieces. They are each 3/8” long and wide and a thickness of around 3/16”. The pieces range from yellowish stars, green ovals, brown ovals, and dark brown rectangles. The mix is even and all are hard.

Ease Of Preparation

Purina Cat Chow Healthy Weight Cat Food catfood is a hard catfood that comes in a large bag, so preparation only involves opening the bag and measuring out the proper serving size for your cat, as determined by its weight. For Gollum, that means a 3/4 cup serving and that lasts about two months at that rate of consumption.

This cat food smells very mealy, with an afterscent of chicken fat. The Purina Cat Chow Healthy Weight Cat Food catfood has an aroma that is more grainy than meaty.

Every time I open the bag of Purina Cat Chow Healthy Weight Cat Food catfood, he comes running. Only on the infrequent times that I have overfilled his bowl did Gollum leave any of the Healthy Weight Cat Food food in it. Instead, he usually devours all of what is given to him! This cat food actually is one of the few that he consistently eats all of.

Nutrition

The Healthy Weight Cat Food is a rather nutritious cat food. The guaranteed analysis of it indicates that it has a minimum of 36% crude protein and 9% crude fat. With no more than 6.5% crude fiber and 10% moisture, this is a food that is very balanced. Always have adequate water near your cat’s feeding area!

As well, those who are concerned about what goes into their pets will be pleased by how this is a mostly natural cat food this is, with only the bottom half of the ingredients are chemicals. The main ingredients, however, are poultry by-product meal, corn gluten meal, and soybean meal. While only the end of ingredient list is a chemistry equation I can barely read, the primary ingredients are all recognizable and several are even human friendly! My point is that Purina Cat Chow Healthy Weight Cat Food cat food is could be a lot worse. It does not, however, have any specific dental benefits, nor urinary tract protection built into the formula.

Overview

Ultimately, Purina Cat Chow Healthy Weight Cat Food is an inexpensive option that Gollum loves and helps him maintain a consistent weight.
