Scrubbing Bubbles Has A Rare Disappointment With The Vanish Toilet Drop-Ins!

The Good: Easy to use, Inexpensive
The Bad: Utterly ineffective!
The Basics: There is inexpensive and there is cheap and, unfortunately, Scrubbing Bubbles Vanish Toilet Drop-Ins are just ineffective, making them pretty worthless.

Not long ago, I moved to Michigan and that has had me buying all sorts of new products. I have, however, been hesitant to review a lot of the new (to me) cleaners, because I want to see how they hold up over time. Still, that did not stop me from reviewing the The Works Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner (that review is here!). That is because that product worked and worked well. Conversely, tonight I am reviewing Scrubbing Bubbles Vanish Toilet Drop-Ins because they, alas, did not work for us. I don’t need to know how this works after a month or 2000 flushes or whatever; it doesn’t work after three days and now after a week and a half, it is utterly ineffective.

Scrubbing Bubbles Vanish Toilet Drop-Ins was on par with the nearest competitors, the Clorox or Lysol tablets that also turn the bowl blue. For the same price as two of those, Scrubbing Bubbles Vanish Toilet Drop-Ins delivers two cleaning discs. The blue discs, much like the solid chlorine tablets one uses in a pool comes as a single-serve package locally for $2.

Using the Scrubbing Bubbles Vanish Toilet Drop-Ins is exceptionally easy. After removing the top of the tank on the back of your toilet, open the cardboard package that holds the two plastic-wrapped toilet bowl cleaning tablets. Separating them from one another, take one package and bring it to the toilet tank. There, using a pair of scissors, cut open the plastic sealed packaged and – without actually touching the blue tablet that is Scrubbing Bubbles Vanish Toilet Drop-Ins, drop the tablet into the toilet tank. Scrubbing Bubbles Vanish Toilet Drop-Ins is a 1.7 oz. tablet that is approximately 2” in diameter and 3/4” thick.

We saw an effect from the Scrubbing Bubbles Vanish Toilet Drop-Ins within the ten minutes the package promised. The water in the back of the tank turned blue. It did not, however, fizz like the other toilet bowl cleaner did. Instead, when we flushed, the bowl filled up with blue liquid as well. It did not, however, clean off the lime rust that accumulates because of the hard water in our building. The blue covered up the brown on the white porcelain.

So, I used a toilet brush (something I resent when I am using a product called “scrubbing bubbles” which implies the product will do it for me!) and cleaned out the bowl. Two days later, I found orange film in the bowl again. Scrubbing Bubbles Vanish Toilet Drop-Ins was utterly ineffective. In fact, what adds insult to injury is the fact that this product is in use in the spare bathroom. All we do in this bathroom on a daily basis is flush kitty litter (reviewed here!) and cat poop once or twice a day. There has not even been a buildup from that yet; the color and consistency of the film is the same as the hard water I brushed off after we started using this!

Scrubbing Bubbles Vanish Toilet Drop-Ins do nothing to clean my toilet; they just cover up the color of hard water by turning the water in the tank and bowl blue. This product was an immense disappointment. So much so, I’m not even sure what I will do with the second one from the pack!
