Ferrara Chocolate’s Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Chocolate Orange Is A Mediocre Treat, But A Good One!

The Good: Chocolate tastes very good, Fairly affordable, Nothing bad in the ingredients
The Bad: Seasonal availability, Lack of nutritional value, Could be more flavorful.
The Basics: Ferrara Chocolate Orange Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch is a good seasonal treat, but hardly one that is extraordinary.

Right before the Christmas holiday, my wife and I were out shopping and we found something that had eluded us the entire holiday season: big chocolate oranges that one whacks on things in order to make it possible to eat them! Never one for the bland, she was excited by the Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Orange and I was geeking out by the Milk Chocolate Peppermint Chocolate Orange. So, in a fit of holiday spirit, we bought each other the one they were interested in and I was unsurprised that my wife broke into her Toffee Crunch Chocolate Orange before I broke into mine.

When she found the Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Orange in her stocking, she might not have been surprised, but she was happy. In sharing it with me, I have had enough to be able to evaluate this seasonal treat. It’s good, but not exceptional.

Basics

Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Orange are a large orange-shaped candy made of chocolate. The Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Orange was sold as a single item, boxed in a festive foil box and wrapped in orange-gold foil for $2.99 (though we got ours on sale for 2/$5.00 right before the holiday!).

Each Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Orange is a spheroid approximately 2 1/2” in diameter and 2 1/2” tall. Each segment – and there are approximately twenty-four in each “orange” – is a slice 2 1/4” long, 1” wide and 3/8” thick. Each slice is stamped with a holiday image – reindeer, snowflakes, snowmen, etc. – for a festive, seasonal treat.

Ease Of Preparation

Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Oranges are simple to prepare, though harder than most candies. First, one must remove the wrapped orange from the box and then smack it on a hard, flat surface to crack the segments into their independent slices. Then, simply unwrap the plastic on the orange and pull out a slice. Each of the Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Orange has about twenty-four segments, plus a core, but it is folly to try to consume this product without first fracturing it.

Taste

Ferrara Chocolate Orange Milk Chocolate candies smell like milk chocolate, without even a hint of toffee.

Rather nicely, on the tongue, the Ferrara Chocolate is not at all waxy. Smooth, creamy, and distinctly milk chocolate flavored, the Toffee Crunch flavor’s chocolate melts away on the tongue in a delightfully sweet, light and chocolatey experience. The toffee flavor only comes out in the little bits of buttery toffee that remain after the chocolate melts away. While my wife, a toffee lover, was thrilled by this, as an objective reviewer, I actually hoped for more of a toffee flavor to it. Still, it was quite good.

The Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch chocolate orange left a sweet, light aftertaste in the mouth that lasted for about five minutes.

Nutrition

Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Orange make no claims to be healthy. This is a good thing because they would fail if they did! The Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Orange splits into about twenty-four slices and a serving is considered five slices. Each five slice serving has 230 calories, 110 of which are from fat. There are 40 mg of sodium and only 2 gram of proteins. Obviously high in carbohydrates (29 grams), the chocolate orange has a single gram of dietary fiber. There are no vitamins or other nutritional benefits to Ferrara Chocolate Orange, outside 4% of one's RDA of Calcium and Iron and 2% of one’s Vitamin A requirements.

The Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Orange slices are candy. The main ingredients in Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Oranges are milk chocolate, butter toffee pieces, and natural and artificial flavors. Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Orange are not Gluten free or Vegan compliant considering there is soy, milk and traces of almonds, egg, and wheat. There is nothing overly unfamiliar in the ingredient list, so these are not the worst candies ever.

Storage/Clean-Up

Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Oranges are easy enough to store. The Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Orange I picked up for my wife for the holidays had an expiration date of October 6, 2014, so keeping them at room temperature or below seems to keep them fresh for a long period of time.

Clean-up is as easy, unless the chocolate melts onto something. If the chocolate does melt, consult a fabric guide for proper cleaning. Otherwise, there is nothing hard about storing or cleaning up after this candy.

Overall

The Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch Ferrara Chocolate Orange is a novelty that could be more toffee-filled for my tastes, but my wife truly loved them.
