Another Case Of A Cooler Accessory Than The Figure, The Attack Of The Clones Teemto Pagalies (Pod Racer) Figure Is Only Fair!

The Good: Decent detailing, Good accessories
The Bad: Poor balance, Nothing great on the articulation or playability front, Figure does not “wow,” No collectible value!
The Basics: Overlooked when the Phantom Menace figures were produced, the podracer Teemto Pagalies action figure is overshadowed by its accessories.

Sometimes, a pretty lame toy can be improved upon by a very cool accessory. That happens rarely in my experience, but when it happens, I am happy enough to feel like I have not wasted my money on the primary figure. In the case of the Teemto Pagalies action figure, I picked it up at clearance a few years after its initial release and I doubt I would have had it not come with such a neat accessory, a larger spider droid and a chunk of Teemto Pagalies’s podracer engine.

For those unfamiliar with the Teemto Pagalies, he was a podracing alien seen in briefly in The Phantom Menace (reviewed here!). One of the very first podracer pilots knocked out of the competition, Teemto Pagalies looks like a cross between a lizard, a bunny, and a kangaroo . . . wearing overalls!

The 4" the Teemto Pagalies figure from the extended Attack Of The Clones Collection was the first version of Teemto Pagalies made. A new version of the figure was recently released as part of an exclusive boxed set of podracer pilots. I have had no real impetus to pick up that boxed set.

Basics

The Teemto Pagalies figure stands 2 3/4" tall to the top of his rabbit-like ears. This diminutive figure is very well sculpted, though it is unclear if it is supposed to be more like a furry creature or a reptilian one. Teemto Pagalie is well-sculpted, though. His arms are textured in a way that makes them almost look like wood! Like many of the podracer pilots, his eyes are small and beady and he is wearing a flightsuit. Teemto Pagalies includes great molded details like the teeth and bandage wraps on his forearms. He is also augmented by a tool belt that is both flexible and detailed with what looks like a coinpurse!

The coloring of the Teemto Pagalies is absolutely incredible. The figures brown and tan skintones are nicely broken up by the distinctive blue-gray of his flightsuit. His teeth are appropriately yellowed and his costume is even colored to look slightly worn!

Accessories

The Teemto Pagalies, small podrace pilot that he is, comes with three accessories: his goggles, a spider droid and chunk of podracer engine. The goggles are very small, clear plastic goggles that slide over Teemto Pagalies’s ears and onto his eyes. There, they do not obscure any of the detailing on the figure. Oddly, they have gotten very loose over the years and no longer fit quite right on my Teemto Pagalies figure.

The spider droid might be the reason to pick up the Teemto Pagalies figure! A hair under three inches tall to the top of its antennas and 2 5/8” in diameter, the spider droid is a domed robot with four legs oriented like a claw. The top of the head is well-detailed with pits and burns to make the salvage droid look like it has been beaten around quite a bit. Pressing the top of the dome opens the clawed legs, which allows the spider droid to grab things, like Teemto Pagalies or the podracer engine part!

The podracer engine piece is a 2 ¾” tall chunk of engine that was blown off a podracer. The black and silver piece appears solely as something the spider droid might grab and fly off with. Like the figure and the droid accessory, it is well-detailed. Unlike them, it does not so much do anything.

Playability

The four inch toy line was designed for play and Teemto Pagalies is fair in that regard. Teemto Pagalies has poor balance, relying on his inflexible tail to hold him up most of the time. It helps to have a playset which might utilize the peg holes in his feet for stability. Oddly, the inflexibility of his tail makes it difficult for him to fit in the cockpit of any of the vehicles, especially the podracers!

The Teemto Pagalies figure is articulated at the groin socket, shoulders, waist, neck and tail. All of the joints are simple swivel joints, so his range of motion is pretty limited, especially for his waist.

Collectibility

The Teemto Pagalies Pod Racer figure is part of the Attack Of The Clones line that was released in 2002. He is 2002 Attack Of The Clones Collection figure #46. Teemto Pagalies sold mostly via clearance and remains exceptionally easy, even now, to find at pathetically discounted prices. He is a terrible investment, especially now that the new version has been released.

Overview

The Attack Of The Clones Teemto Pagalies figure is average-at-best, but the spider droid is pretty cool and enhances any number of droid, scrap pile or other Star Wars play settings.
